The last IP in IPv4 format has been given today!

From now on, the new format IPv6 is the road to take.

For those that are unaware:
IPv4 is the format IPs have been all these years and is similar to le'ts say: 69.245.12.168

New Format, IPv6 looks like:
2001:4860:0000:2001:0000:0000:0000:0068

Casual users won't ever notice it but a large number of other people will need to work in order to endure this will not proclaim issues. For example, All Zorg Universes now support the new format which should start appearing slowly.

IPv6 format except from adding new numbers to use (much bigger pool as well) it also provides 2 more key features (in simple words):
1)128bits over 32 bits (can contain more data than a simple adress)
2)Because of 1), it will be quicker and easier to install every new ip on the network (no DCHP server required)

Btw, if you are managing a database, make sure you put to store up to 40 char (ie VARCHAR(40) or DECIMAL(40) )

wow future is here after all... i was schooled in networking we thought it would be another age that IPV4 would go out of numbers.

Surprised my networking teacher didn't know this. We just talked about a week ago how the IP4 was going to run out within the end of the year.
