I know it may be a long shot but he may not be purposely latching onto you guys, whether you're aware of it or not, VENI-VIDI-VICI is actually a pretty common name from plenty of games that people like to use. If you consider its meaning he may not have been referring to you at all and simply trying to sound "cool".
