if we are 2D we wont even have the perception of depth either so there is only distance and sun would always be along the horizon rather on top of us. now how does it illuminate the earth from the horizon without the visible width?

Two-dimensional is impossible by the way. It's a name given to supposedly flat things, but even they have a third dimension, no matter how small. Humans are unable to perceive anything that has more or less than three dimensions.

Well, no physical 'object' can exist in two dimensions, at least any object in our dimension. There might well be things that are two dimensional, we just can't interact with them.
