hmmm something of an standard once again for standard ppl to keep check.
thats what u are up against. so find ur best move to match that. in all bickering if u are not fsing right u are not doing it right.
Re: Players Leaving the Game
#22Nice discussion. I don't argue that The Wank Tank can't fight this way. it is a pity that they have catched me by surprise (but that is a different story).
It is about how you can play the game now. If you see the points for fleets, you have to agree that there is not really a thing to fight for. And besides this you appearantly may not have a big fleet or always fleet save it.
It is still a standard server, so I guess not everybody can be online every hour to see if he is attacked. And to fleetsave and not to be catched, you still need a moon.
Maybe a restart every year or so could be done, like other online games did. But that is still an artificial thing to keep the game balanced.

Re: Players Leaving the Game
#23It takes less than a minute to fleet save, and there are all kinds of instructions in the forums of how to do it properly.
There will always be people that quit after they get crashed, this is not something that is happening just in Standard. Those are people that can't stand the fact they've been outplayed, and that kind of players shouldn't have started playing in the first place.

Re: Players Leaving the Game
#24I accept that they took my fleet. That is the game.
But you need a moon, so that they can't scan properly your time that your fleet comes back (what they did at me). But than you just keep scanning when it comes back.
So I understand fleetsave, but it is not the holy grail for me to be sure you can keep your fleet. If they want to get your fleet, they will find it and for sure for the people who can't be online for this game the whole day.

Re: Players Leaving the Game
#25if you are fleetsaving properly, your fleet wont be found, trust me. people have evaded being found since this game started, even without moons they have stayed hidden
They may not like me, but they've gotta respect me!
Re: Players Leaving the Game
#26If you dont have a moon....use a friends...if your friends dont have moons....use an inactives...
Re: Players Leaving the Game
#27i have actually been on chat with rj a while back and was discussing what was the real issue in standard server.
as long as u keep ur colony unprofitable, that means get enough defense on them so that any attacking atticking them losses more deut than it is worth for them to make it a profitable raid or crash, due to the fleet size it needs to hit that defense.
collect ur resources if u need to a central place. build some cargo ships to match that amount per cargo space. every time u collect and spend next thing u need to do is fleet save properly.
do not do planet to planet operations even if u are sending resources from planet to planet for some build ups. involve a moon at least. for fleet saving fleet save to ur own moon, inactive moon or a friends moon. have them coordinates memorized noted, put on shortcuts how ever u do it set missions to those cooridinates wth moon.
do that i doubt any one will try to catch u. also when fleet returns it is always your responsibility to be there so that ur fleet and resources are safe. unless u have a massive turtle to make it fail for any attacker.
this are basic game knowledges. ask any wank tank members they will guide u for clarification. after all this talks they are bound to share intel if asked for.
unless until u are saying that i cannot say u are doing it right. u want to be friendly with ur budds thats cool. but you cannot expect the entire universe to be ur friend.

Re: Players Leaving the Game
#28Thanks for the info. I looked around on the forums a bit. Appearantly I will need to learn how to fleetsave better. I was hoping for some other tactics. And also hoping that the alliances would find a better tactic to change the score board .

Re: Players Leaving the Game
#29So, the account was "given" to RJ ... to play with ... ? So, it's not really his/her stuff at all ? Just the ships ...
Still, the one question left hanging ... still ... you are now "top dog" .... people leave ... I don't see too many replacements ... who do you then play with and while remaining "top dog" how do you feel and what have you achieved ?
... or ... is it this sort of interaction in these fora, that interests you the most ... ?

Re: Players Leaving the Game
#30Seems to me like you are turning this into one big socio-psychological case study
What Spy says is true. Basic game tactics go a long way into ensuring your safety while still allowing for "mutual growth." And I personally have never talked to a more experienced player who was not willing to provide answers to questions concerning better ways to play the game. That's what everybody wants is a good group of players that keeps Zorg entertaining. As far as these "new" tactics involving fleets and "obliging" one to fleetsave are concerned, a little adrenaline rush and some good old fashioned common sense and brain power never hurt anyone. This game is human vs human afterall.
