That's a strong idea, yeah. Of course, the text of Zorg Empire does imply a universe that has been populated by the descendents of Earth, but I suppose they could very easily have evolved in different directions to give rise to half a dozen strains.

Zorg Empire definitely has a unique feel. It's rare to find books, films, or games that manage to be hard science fiction rather than magic dressed up as science. Don't get me wrong; I love Star Wars, but I can't really appreciate it on a very intellectual level.
