xtreme server:
I follow the hybrid way. in this server i try to explore every possible game play and styles there is to hone my skills. Also the fact with trying everything ur growth is much faster. and you are always learning something which keeps the game interest flowing.
I have mines to give me a solid base. that is always a better cusion for any sort of fall backs.
my shells on planets are enough to keep my daily production safe.
i do research which ever is necessary for my next set of goals or tactice to try may it be fleeting/raiding/turtling or even pulling res for mines.
combined all of it, i find it satisfactory to be able to self sustain my fleeting cost. and as i like to play this game with my friends in my alliance it allows me the scope to provide help and support when ever it is needed, this probably is the most important factor.
Standard:
well i am just miming at the moment. and doing research which ever is cheapest. so not much of fun in there but the satisfaction of seeing my empire grow slowly. its a work in progress.
sPEED:
I WANTED to play as a pure fleeter but due to some net and laptop issues fleeting was not an option for a while so had to vmode. alls fun but that server still needs a bit more growing so it will be alot more fun soon enough

On Xtreme, I mine because I don't have the time/schedule to fleet well. That, and I've always been a guy who likes to have a solid infrastructure in these types of games. I also have enough defense to protect at least two days of production just in case I don't have time for transports. Call me a semi-turtle for that if you wish.
On Standard, I'm currently fleeting, but I was a miner/turtle for a while because of the slowness. I'm fleeting because I thought, what the heck, why not? The slower speed allows me to be safer as a fleeter as well, so that helps.
On Speed, I'm a turtle. I only have an account there in case I want to look into a bug or to confirm lag or something like that. I just pour res into defense every couple days.

#5Why do I turtle?
I turtle on both Speed and Xtreme. Turtling is not just leisurely fun and it's not accomplished by spamming light lasers (imo). I turtle because I like calculus. Making different structures and layers of defense is very delicate and all together beautiful to a math lover. Plus, to be a good turtle, you have to pass a certain point range in order to actually be considered a non-target, so it's hard to build your shell up to that point knowing you could be annihilated.
Turtling is fun, but it takes work!
But then after that you can be lazy and have fun XD.

#6I turtle, just because of the fact that I am most likely the worst Fleet Saver in History. I keep a somwhat large fleet hopping from planet to planet for resource protection and raiding, but I like to see fleets crumble at the hands of my defences.
Other than that I also spend some resources building ships, but my fleet is minuscule somepared to others.

#7I Have done all three things. But I have learned that they all go hand and hand together at most points. Everyone uses defense which makes a small turtle but if you really want to fleet. You need the good mines which I just learned in the past 6 months lol.

#8well, in the beginning, i turtle like heck and only raid inactives near me...
then i go and upgrade my defenses because having a low fleet score will keep me off the radar...for now...
later, i pump my deut synth up REALLY HIGH (not really xD) and then build some BC, destroyers, etc.
I'm more of a mix between a miner/fleeter. (RAIDERS!)
