Message seems to be: If I'm nasty enough people will stop playing and I can then farm them? Or 'It's a wargame, live with it'.

Sure I risk the accusation of being a 'whiner'. Still here's a few valid points (also brought up in other threads on this forum but with the wrong title to pull in all the debate on teh subject a good game engine deserves):

1. There is need for balance and 'game' and 'play' to make it a 'war-game', not just war.

2. If someone reaches ~1000 BCs & can then win against any mid-ranked player and all below with zero losses and then continue to keep them at zero (farming them) with zero losses and zero maintenance (as they continue to build toward infinity), I see a problem.

3. Good Gaming is all about balance. Do we have it? A combat engine that allows totally one sided combat losses (beyond a certain superiority) and the totally artificial and frankly boring FS (and the dueterium cost to maintain it) only required by the lower classed players.... and not effective anyway for irregular players. These are not very 'realistic' or fun game features.

4. Game Moderators/ Hosts will know what the player numbers are, % stayers and the average player life expectancy of new players, and possibly even the hours loggged-on to make it work for the ones who stay... I wonder if these are the numbers games hosts want? I suppose true devotees may be the ones using a trickle of rubies and the newbies not? But still...

Valid points to discuss methinks and I hope you agree. If it results in a few balancing tweaks to what is a great game engine, I'm pleased. Not a great 'game' yet though.

This is a potential epic wargame but currently an eddy besides the host of other serious contenders. My top 2 are Edit and Edit each having alot more to offer in terms of play, feel, balance and features. Sci-fi though does have a extra zest for me, and I'm keen to see Zorg succeed.

just calm down.

look if you play the game the right way(fleetsaving, and protecting your resource) you have nothing to worry about.

i recognize the pm's where this came from, and i understand where you are coming from, but the problem is with you mate. if you either spend your res, or carry it with you, you will be UNPROFITABLE, and not worth raiding. its as easy as that, and dont complain about the cost of fs'ing 1k bc for crying out loud. what do you think it costs to fs 40k bc and 10k lg's?

look, just play the game the way im describing, and you wont be bothered unless you have made enemies that wish to make an example of you, and there are plenty of those sorts on certain servers. yes you are whining, and no you arent doing the things necessary to survive in this game. if you manage to log in 4 times in a 24 hour period, you would be able to accomplish these things, so i dont understand the problem.

there are many players that would love to give you advice and help you if you would just ask rather than post here the same bs that has been posted a thousand times. if im being harsh, i appoligize, but i just dont understand why this is such a hard concept to understand.

pm me or many other players in game if you want specific advice mate. nobody wants you to quit, but nobody wants to read these same things on the forum all the time.

I'm not whining: this forum is for game suggestions. It looks like a good Beta, and I hope I can be constructive. I may be the only one (+a few on the 'Tac Fleet destroyer' thread) who feels this way in which case, I've said my piece, I let it stand FWIW. But game balance is the fine tuning any and all great works in progress.

I'm all for 'Play the game as it is not as you wish it to be', but that doesn't stop this kind of discussion looking at how it might yet be, does it?

lol, Looks like every game has the same complaints. Do you think checkers is unfair when someone takes your pieces? Is monopoly unfair when someone charges you rent? Most games are resonably balanced before the first move and instantly off balance after the first action.

This kind of game is better than average in some ways and worse in others. It's better, in that a few simple strategies allow you to loose virtually nothing, ever. It's worse because the nature of the beast is that some people ahve play longer than others. Whether its a day or a decade, its unfair. As is everything else.

I you can not be happy with those simple facts, then you will never be happy with this type of game.
Outside the box? What box?

I think the system is good enough.If u would be in real life war u wouldnt be speared cuz u dont know how to defend,be sneaky, do counter attack,etc..------>u would be crushed like a bug:)I personally think the protection till 10k points is perfectly fine after that we all deserve to get *** kicked several times.The engine is not bad either.And what HS told do proper fs and spend resources and ull be safe..If that doesnt teach u the lesson nothing will:)))

Lotta drops outs in standard galaxy 9, wonder what player numbers are doing in trhe wider universes.

I'm sure the game manager is as keen on a 'playable' 'Game' as anyone...

Some people aren't getting the point (that I thought had been clearly made though). Sure, play the game as it is: Fine with FS, infinite growth and zero losses to the bigger side in combat.... but that's the game as it is now. This is a forum to discuss evolution options.... The future, palyability, feel, balance. It is Not about gripping about winners and loosers.
