I wouldnt go as far as to say I will tell you my fleet size.... Usually if people see a higher ranking players entire fleet it is because their being attacked.

LOL, this thread is getting too touchy/feely.

Bottom line is this, nobody needs a reason a reason to raid you or attack you or do whatever the hell they want. Scan away. If you are not afraid of the attention you may get and you may be able to raid a higher ranked player's planet, do it. This isn't a tea party.

There is no protocol. It doesn't matter who you piss off. If you have something to gain, all the better raiding a higher ranked player. Just don't whine and complain about the consequences. If you are smart and can avoid them hitting you back, you are playing the game right. You have to make your way somehow in the game. Running scared of any player who has a higher rank than you will get you nowhere.

The_Templar wrote:curtis, in both my posting in the other forum and yours here, you are lucky to have the input of top ranked players and, in terms of this game's fixational conditions, respectable warriors, who, each one in his own unique manner, tell you one thing: probing might be dangerous. I 'm sure that the simplicity of the sequence of events is not too much for your intellect:

1. You probe a player.
2. What was yesterday your fleet, today it's his crystal mines 1 level up.

And thanks to khan's input, we know that this has happened to you twice.
And, Urweirdsaysi, what is idiotic?
Is it maybe PMing your attacker whining and calling him names that can get you banned if passed to the admins?
However, I just deleted them. I don't want a potential farm of mine to get banned.
What I find disrespectful is to ignore the advice of players who hold the top positions since I joined the game, or
the remarks of players who, in parallel with me, made their way near the top, through hard work.
They keep giving their advice for the benefit of the game, even against their farming interests.
There is always the option to utilize that advice or whine continuously when meeting the consequences of an action.
I love how you insist upon saying others are immature and then in the second sentence you question others intellectual levels. You don't sound like a hypocrite at all. You sound like a very mature, well spoken individual. (Thats sarcasm, in case it wasn't obvious.)

I also love how you think you're somehow superior to everyone else, because you have a rank next to your name. If I were you, I'd see if a Mod would put bright shiny stars around your name, that way you get the the attention you seem so intent upon trying to acquire.

This is a game and people are able to play it how they choose. Yes, not listening to advice of experienced players (Which, I will give you credit that you DO have experience, I'm not trying to deny that.) can prove hazardous for you at times, but what players do and do not choose to do is none of your business, quite frankly. By expecting everyone else to listen to you, you've placed yourself upon a pedestal, which no one should be placed on. You're not (Nor is anyone else, for that matter) the final decision and not everyone has to bow down to your decisions and judgments. You're disrespecting others by expecting them to always listen to you and wanting them to apologize if they happen to pass gas in your system.

"And, Urweirdsaysi, what is idiotic?" For someone that wants to question others intelligence, you don't seem too intent on reading people's posts. "Anyone thinking probing is disrespectful is an idiot, to but it bluntly." Taken from my first post, which only had three sentences.

I wasn't talking of myself. I may be high ranked, but I 'm not experienced. I 'm just good at this game. That's my first ever browser game and I joined relatively recently, compared to others.
I was talking about other players, whose input you can see for yourself.

That's the English I 've learned to write. Dispose off your own hypocrisy and you may realize that
English is not everybody's primary language.

I fail to see how you having to learn English makes it alright for you to constantly place yourself above others. Plenty of people learn secondary languages, yet they don't constantly question each others intelligence because of it.

Re: probing

You both have a firm command of the English language. Now don't start picking on aspects of each other's writing, stick to insulting each other's intellect and lack of humility.

For the record, I'm taking neither side here.
However, I wait to see who will be the better man, as it were, and stop this pointless bickering.

If you take a look through the top hits, you will often see that players get a "tip" about a fleet. Where does that tip come from? Someone scanning the target's planet.

Two of my minor fleets have been hit. One via Phalanx domination and the other while I got pulled away from the computer in the middle of farming. The player who hit me NEVER scanned my planet. Live and learn.

Reflecting on the whole thing, Templar did the right thing. Scan the wrong player and feel the repercussions. It looks like Curtis ended up bringing up a whole lot of hurt not only to himself, but to some of his alliance members. The myth about Alliances "protecting" members is for the most part just that, a myth. The only one who can protect your fleet is yourself.
