I just colonized and then abandoned a colony with 103 fields...is that a record low?

Yes that would be the worst you can have I think. I have 40 colonize missions experience . The worst I got is 106

I think they were left for dead. There are no return flights.

they did not know what happened they should not have installed that self destruct when they colonized such a worthless planet
