Username change period

#1
Right now, there is a time limit before one can change his username. This limit is set to 30 days. Which means that while you can change your username once with no limits, if you wish to change it again, 30 days must pass since the last change.

At RELOADED, the very rare thing has happened where one player has requested to get an exception and change his username. Administration, did a one time favor and removed the limit.

Then, the bizarre happened and another player has also requested an exception. We were alarmed but we decided to make the exception, clearing out that there will be no more exceptions of the time.

Now, we received the third request which leads up to this topic. This is no longer bizarre. Obviously players talk with each other so 1 became 2 but 2 will not become 3.

There is a reason for the username restriction. Changing names too often first and foremost plagues you as players as keeping the same name can be more important than you realize.

The reason we gave the exceptions was that we respected the THEMES that some ALLIANCES use. The universe age also allows for this. These 2 elements coupled with the simplified username change that new login system brought, bring us to the question:

Should we revise the limit period?

Yes or No? Perhaps drop it to a week? Or remove it completely? Or make it cost rubies? Or deuterium?

Your thoughts will shape what happens.

No ruby cost .. Not everybody is able to buy rubies to do that.
Most of us use another name in RELOADED so we can build the account without getting harassed by enemies from other universes and some will change the name when they think it's time.
I'm one of those players. Leave it at 30 days and don't make it a rubies option please.
I don't know why players want to change their name this quick but i have no problem with the rule as it is atm

Well lets see

Players want to change their name in a short time for a variety of reasons
1.If someone changed their name their alliance mates wants them to change because they dont like it or doesnt go well with the group?
2. What if the guy got a typo or something when changing their it sure does happens . when you have your damn auto correct.

I can suggest two possibilities for this.

1. Allow the player to undo their username i.e revert back to their old name
2. Reduce the change limit from a month to a week

Over complicating something isn't really the answer. 30 days isn't a long wait time for something that for the most part is pretty irrelevant. Lessening the time period just adds it as another element of deception.
Can complete your theme after 30 days. Not like your losing out on anything waiting.

I brought this up with Zorg a few years ago. The likes of some players think it's great to Troll your name etc, that sort of thing amongst other things. I thought trolling was against the rules, however, Zorg could not see a problem with this, perhaps because it was not directed at them?

To alleviate this, I suggested that the time period for name changes could be changed but alas, they disagreed.

I think it might be a good idea to lower the the amount of time between name changes. Most players are happy enough with their choice of names, even if they do change their names it really doesn't happen that often. Of course, given half the chance then some would change their names on a daily basis, but is that really a problem. If you were hunting a specific player, you would know thie co-ordinates of their homeworlds anyway. So any change of name would be irrelevant. I dount thought that it would a great issue anyway.
