A way to even the playing field is to give everyone the same start. Eliminate the generals but leave the new ships and resource boosts for all or have a tech research for res boosts. With an even field there'd be less to moan about, because, as I stated earlier, some players will always find a way to moan about something they feel is an inequity.
The storage dens were a waste of time and resources. They didn't hold enough and part of the game is raiding, so either defend your res or move it.

So if Dens Shall be Removed What Special Thing Do You Think Miners Must Have?

First of all, i don't think eliminating the generals is a good idea.
This tournament is named Generals, it has a specific structure and you're proposing they take that structure away.
Not what i would want but that's up to the dev team.
Also, a big -1 on removing dens.
Again, this feature is part of this specific structure and even if it didn't work for you, it did work for others.
Granted , after the mines reach a certain level/production ,the storage dens become obsolete since they can't hold enough in that case.
But like you said, raiding is a part of the game, it's not the whole game .

BTW, a huge congrats on taking the top spot :)

Regarding turtles, I am not sure of their exact problem as I happened to play a turtle before and everything was fine. Perhaps they are simply not much chosen as someone with this style would prefer the miner which seems to offer more than the defence general. Perhaps, players also do not want to invest much in defense in a universe that ends fast. What do you all think?

1. My feedback is the same with others about the bug. it was remove after a week?
2. And for my experience I did not raid even once and grow using only mine production so if raider generals will get 25% of it, it will hurt my playing stlye LOL (selfish reasoning)
