The direct counters to lunnies (dessies, lf) will do more damage to lunnies (Unlike before where lunnies could steam roll everything) but the damage increase isn't a huge amount, but enough to make dessies viable again.
Okay, I have to object to this. When you say lunars could steamroll everything with the old engine, that is simply not true! The rapid fire dessies, BCs, and LFs already had against lunars already made certain fleet comps difficult to take out... Certainly, pound for pound, BCs and dessies already rip through lunars! I have been confronted with situations where a particular fleet comp heavy on BCs or dessies (but still containing RIPs, of course, making LGs the only viable option...) made it difficult for me to mitigate my losses, despite the fact that the the fleet I was targeting was significantly smaller than my own.

The real steamrollers always have been RIPs... I am glad to see that it looks as if lunars are strengthened against RIPs with the changes to the new engine, but my worries about many fleets being more difficult for medium sized fleeters to take out still stand... I'm trying to look at this holistically. Of course I have a bias in that I AM one of those medium sized fleeters who has amassed a majority lunar fleet, and these changes will affect my game play and will make hunting more difficult for me in many instances. But I feel that the perspective I am coming from is reasonable and that my concerns are real. Increasing the effects of rapid fire from dessies and BCs against Lunars (ships that were already powerful against lunars) certainly won't destroy the game... but I am not convinced it will be good for it either...

On a side note, I do agree with Dire that BCs do not need a buff.... they already perform extremely well against all ships except RIPs. Giving cruisers a little something extra could be a good thing... they are not really viable at all right now.
