I have read the links..
there are a lot of similar ideas there..
however..
the ideas of giving the new players speed ups for the 1st month.., and other ideas given by Gozar makes a lot of sense..
and its not gonna allow for cheating..or rubies movement.. as speed ups should be in program.., not bought by rubies..etc..
so its only gonna benefit new players..
and will for sure allow them to feel they have a good start after a month..
it is whether ZORG can implement it..
or more important.., if they want to..
Re: Retaining new players..
#32one thing I see coming back multiple times;
- a tutorial for newbees
In order to not put too much load on one particular individual, I would propose the following;
- since this is a strategy game, everyone has a certain opinion on what strategy to follow, so...
- involve the alliances
here's how:
- simple tutorial -->
1. build this,
2. now build that,
3. study this,
4. probe an inactive,
5. send ship to collect res,
6. SIGN UP WITH ALLIANCE OF YOUR CHOICE,
7. if you do not sign up with an alliance within 30 days after your registration, you will be automatically put into an npc alliance
it is our job to teach the new players on what strategy we think they should follow!
you have different strategies, hence different alliances.
the tutorial should get them of the ground, no more than that, but direct them to the community as soon as possible!
My strong belief is that the community is what keeps players, so the new addition has to be introduced to that community asap!
my 2 rubies...

Re: Retaining new players..
#34It is obvious that in the development era that comes, we will help towards this direction.
-Tutorials are ideas that are around for a long time - there are topics which contain already much info about them.
-Expeditions reform should be thrown into the mix.
-Alongside with Battle Engine improvements.
-Approved player suggestions.
-And finally interface improvements.
There are the main elements coming soon. Feel free to continue discussion or suggesting things but do not expect me to come back and comment on your every post. It does not mean I have not read it if there is no answer.

Re: Retaining new players..
#36Interactive tutorials, or a mentor player from the top 20. Also a better chat interface in game A more interactive community in game in general; approach new players make them feel comfortable. Also we all come from different parts of the world seems like a great way to learn about each others cultures. Also a general understanding of all players that bashing someone to V mode or I is not profitable in the long run. Also we may be opponents in game but that doesn't mean we can't be pleasant, maybe after destroying someones stuff give them pointers in how not to get there stuff smashed and crack a joke that's funny.

Re: Retaining new players..
#38I have said it once and probably 4-5 times
old or new, either one
all the advertising in the world might attract new sign-in / players /accts
But it will not keep them
and that is the problem
changes / additions to the game must make it more interesting
and that is spelled
-- F - U - N--
if not players will just go elsewhere
until Zorg changes his mind
making suggestions is like
until Zorg reprograms the game to make it more fun / interesting to play
Zorg is always going to have problems with "__Retaining--" playersold or new, either one

#39Retaining New Players Yea ?
Ahh Again!
i Said my Opinion Times and Times No One Ever Noticed
and i'm not going to do this Again
THIS IS NOT FLAMING OR ACCUSING.THIS IS THE EXPERIENCE I HAD》Zorg Only Listens to Gozar,Sprog,Evilbass and OlderPlayers Generally
Discussing About This Subject is Useless

Re: Retaining new players..
#40Very helpful Whippet. Now, if you get that chip off your shoulder, perhaps say something constructive.
There is no favouritism towards older players. Am I an older player? I don't think anything I have ever suggested has been implemented either. But that doesn't mean I will say "THis is not a moan.......but, I will moan!".
As the old adage goes, "If you don't have anything good to say, then don't say anything at all".
Now, have you got any suggestions? If they are the same as your old suggestions, please re-state them.
