Ehhh...Thunderheart, there have been many new rules added into the game over the years as Gozar had stated earlier. As a veteran player of this type of game, I myself wouldn't mind new rules being added especially to help the new players...
Obviously this is not the spot to discuss that though...
What we should discuss is the fact that yes there are power differences in players...The big players either bought or fought their way to the top and in some cases they have done both. We do not want to take away from the few big players and we want to take away from the small players trying to learn the game... I understand some may be mad due to the attack barriers set at 100k or 10k points. These are obviously set to help players grow and not be hit right as they start...Some players would go after 5 large cargos if there were a profit in it. If we instead brought the game to a median of some sort, then we would all be better off...
Why not decrease the amount of Rips needed to destroy moons, decrease the ruby price of moons to say...20 rubies, get rid of MD wait time completely, make an attack barrier of 200k or 1/4th points in all universes (This will give other players just joining a lot better chance at learning the game) and I will add in as I think of more...
Re: A Meditation on Power Disparity
#12I would agree, to live by the old standards of moon destruction missions and the current rate in which some players are no able to excel at increasing fleet simply due to a large number of our active players leaving due to such strategies as the one listed in this thread would make sense. I also find it rather humorous that someone who mentions wanting to allow new accounts the ability of benefiting from ruby bought enhancements for a month would even say a word against this but rather embrace it. If we were to make it harder to pop a moon then it makes it harder for everyone, so where is the issue? I quite frankly don't see the position you are trying to make Gozar by also attempting to bring into the discussion the tactics implemented by players as to give you the same amount of grief you have been giving them since the moment you exited vacation mode. Also as a player of this game and for as long as you have played it you seem to be the only one who is giving any resistance to change. I have been playing for almost four years now and I can see why we would need to raise the implosion rates. If I was to hit someone straight out of 100k protection with a moon destruction could they stand a chance of blocking me alone? I think not. So why not place a little more of a pucker effect into it as to deter anyone from thinking they can waltz around the galaxies trying to redecorate it as they see fit? So, now I pose everyone this question. What will it take to even get this to change as we had to fight even for the Elite Recycler we now have, why not for a implosion chance that works towards the receiver's benefit? A more difficult destruction will only lead to more Fleeters and more activity which is exactly what this server in particular needs, not having everyone purchasing rubies as to attempt to flee a wave of rips.

Re: A Meditation on Power Disparity
#14Think that statement say's it all, what makes you and your sister Ari different to all the other players that have come and gone.. relative to the game time table you are very new..yet here you both are asking, nay almost demanding for game changes.. You have no idea how many rips I have lost to MD missions..I can tell you it is 1,000's...Look at my losses over 65 billion in fleet and I can assure you I have lost very few battles.. The MD rules are already so one sided, based on all the non fleeters which out number the true fleeters by 10:1... Yet the game was designed around fleets...Pulsar wrote:All I want is the ability to keep playing in the face of these threats without pouring money into the game...
You ask for an increase in the risk factor.. yet have you asked yourself.. why would a player risk as stated above..75 billion in fleet for a fleet that is maybe at best worth 5 or 6 billion... Start messing with the MD rules any further and you may as well get rid of Phalanx and moons all together..
Your statement about pouring money into this game... why not I have spent on average $500 a year over 6 years about $3,000.. And you wish for me to have thrown that away because you don't like the rules as they are... I spend more than this on my car insurance each year and get nothing back except peace of mind... Where here I get fun and enjoyment..and hours of entertainment..
Over the years there have been many wallet warriors.. who have spent far more money than I ever have...Money is not the issue..never has been, apart from some expense from the players the game could not run.. Do you think it cost nothing to run a server...?
In my opinion if the MD rules reverted to the way they were in the beginning.. Many player with say just a hundred rips or less could destroy any size moon.. of any player which in fact would even the playing field far more than just restricting me... The main reason I have so many rips is because of this unbalanced MD rules... If I did not need so many for such missions I would not have built them... By adapting and playing the game as it became I became as powerful as needed.. If my resources had not gone into rips it would have gone into other ships and I would have say 3 million LG or more by now...and of course you would complain about that to... It seems to me what ever the scenario either you, your sister or another player will always complain how unfair the game is..
If you can't stand the heat keep out the kitchen...or maybe that is where you should be...in the heat of it. ?..lol
I added a portion to clarify... as usual someone see's fit to take a comment and twist it to make an issue.. If you look at a few of my previous post the reference to keep out of the kitchen..is made many times.. and in the UK it is often said to any person regardless of gender.... so no sexist remark intended..
I am starting to believe this game is becoming more and more about politics than game play. I will state here and now..In my opinion there is NO race, creed, colour or difference in sexes, in this game, all of us are just players..
Yet when it suites certain players they use these for their own advantage.. well sorry does not wash with me, we are all the same.. take it or leave it.. If you play this game everyone will be treated the same way by me.
Re: A Meditation on Power Disparity
#15Tell you what I will agree to an increase in the risk factor..if the MD rules revert to what they used to be..where the size of a moon did not matter.. this way we all win..there would no longer be a need for ruby purchased moons.. apart for a speed point of view which tends to be mostly us fleeters anyway...and maybe a reduction in the cost of them..( better to sell 1000 at 50 rubies than sell a 100 at 150)... Of course you will not agree to this as it makes it to even... and most of you don't like an even playing field.
Re: A Meditation on Power Disparity
#16Not sure about "we all win"......whatever gets changed will have opposition for opposition sake......the rules on MDs were changed because of one person before.....seems that still isn't enough to keep some people happy........surely easier for those moaners to change games than change the game for the moaners ........I would say man up or shut up but apparently that could be deemed inappropriate lol......so maybe "certain" people should concentrate on their own game rather than the game of one individual.....so have fun and don't forget......It's A War GAME!Gozar wrote:Tell you what I will agree to an increase in the risk factor..if the MD rules revert to what they used to be..where the size of a moon did not matter.. this way we all win..there would no longer be a need for ruby purchased moons..

Can we stick to the subject please? Rather than telling players to quit or keep their ideas to themselves is what ruins games...
Im trying to be peaceful after all my bans but I am sure that you are supposed to stay on topic....You couldve said "I disagree because..." but you say others are singling certain people out while "some" are actually trying to single others out...

Re: A Meditation on Power Disparity
#18I think I was on topic tbh if you read what I said....Maybe you mistook other comments previous to mine as going off on a tangent.....if that's the case then I agree lol....Anyway, what would you suggest? Should we change back to what it was before for MDs? What then? People complain it is unfair again....and they will be the ones who wanted the change in the first place.....Tbf, the main subject is actually about a player not much liking the fact a stronger player has a big advantage over a weaker one.......well in all games you will have this.....and we all started with nothing (except the wallet warriors of course lol).....but for every offence there is a defence.....so I will state yet again ....
"........so maybe "certain" people should concentrate on their own game rather than the game of one individual.....so have fun and don't forget......It's A War GAME!"

#19I believe as adversaries we will never come to an agreement, that satisfies both parties... (maybe we can agree on this lol)
As it is, the playerbase is dwindling on not only this server, hence the question to come up with ideas to change it for the better.
in Xtreme server you simply cannot ignore Gozar as being the man to beat, yet he is so far out of reach, that there's a vacuum between him and newly added players.
I'm not suggesting Gozars game should be made anything less enjoyable by changing some of the gamerules, on the contrary!
To me , he's the goal we all should work to become, which in my eyes is as the game should be; strive to be on top and rival the current leader for his position.
It shouldn't be easy, but as it is a game, it should be within reach...
I don't have an answer, but i do believe that the current situation is not bringing long term additions to the game, making it more alive...and better graphics won't solve that!
those are my two cents...but i'm willing to sell em for a lousy $!

#20Thunderheart I do actually agree on your points of view......especially that all should be within reach.....but that also applies to MDs imo....and as Gozar clearly stated earlier in this post, not all moons are poppable within any persons lifetime......
I would personally like to see Massacre merge into Extreme and make the Extreme server more active ...surely better than one dwindling server doing very little....how this would happen I have no idea and likely never going to happen .....
