Just had a laugh with the loss of fleet on a probe mission/fs.
So many guys here go into so much detail about future ship designs and current game play
But its the little things that make me come back again and again
Like the probe/fs
Who actually cares how people fs - not the issue
The issue is, if it was a 3 mil fleet and it was lost
Why isnt there a bloody large df?
Come on guys, all the great science you can throw at me
But when ships are lost in attack wow - df.. but probe and its ahhhh wait no...
A kill is a kill.. a ship loss a ship loss df is df no matter where it is

#2Yahoo someone who understands: )! in that one post you displayed more brain power than all of azguard combined: )!
Re: Fun reading
#3The reason there was no DF is obvious, if you're not able to fill in those dots then you need more assistance than can be offered in these forums.
No one really cares about how you fleetsave, the issue is ignoring the repeated warnings and then acting like "if only we had known"
Is anyone else surprised it happened? No
Is anyone else really surprised Zorg did what he did? No
It is a pattern, to expect otherwise would be insanity.

#4Ah medal, thank you for your outstanding reply. But alas zero information passed on. I started a new topic to get away from the style of fs undertaken. My topic is actually about the lack of df.
Let me connect the dots for you...
I attack and my fleet is killed. Holy ****, a df
I defend and my fleet is killed, What the hell, a df
I probe ( I prefer recon, its what i do) and nothing there - great I collect info and pass it on where its needed most
But hold your horses, I probe and there is defence large enough to take out my probes, dang there is df
But if I add extra ships to the probes well colour me black, its moved to the black hole..
Hope you can understand what i am trying to get at here..
if not maybe your dots arent the type I am using - sorry
Now dont treat me like a noob, I know who you are and I have been here longer than you
I started this topic - yet again to say somethings is this game we play dont quite run the way I would expect..

Re: Fun reading
#5It's always been known that there is no d/f for fleet other than probes on a f/s....rightly or wrongly....same as for failed MDs when RIPS are destroyed.....no d/f there either....makes no sense but has never been any different since I started to play here .....maybe Zorg could address this ...

Oh wait no I guess I didn'toneone wrote: Who actually cares how people fs - not the issue
I simply agreed by pointing out that no one cares how you do it.
I'm guessing you are trying to get Zorg to admit to a bug... well good luck with that, if you've been around as long as you say you've been... you know that is not a likely outcome.
Your ships are most likely tied to a planet or fleet, when the game decides you lost your probe fleet it simply pulls the value for the probes and creates the DF for that and then deletes the fleet id.
Hence your ships poof because the mission never completes such that it adds the ships back to your planet.
Possibly a bug and possibly an intentional design choice
Re: Fun reading
#7It makes no sense and as Sprog pointed out, the same is true for failed MDd. Where did those dead RIPs go? Tbh can't see why Zorg doesn't fix these 2 bugs as we all love a juicy df plus it makes a little more sense in the game.
Re: Fun reading
#8You could think of the missing dots in the following manner:
1) metaphorically first: lets say I take a friend from their house somewhere that I know where to go, they don't pay attention so they don't know how to go home. IF I abandon them, they are lost, they cannot get home because they don't know where they are. (You could think of this as being randomly teleported somewhere and then being told to go home, you first have to know where you are in relation to your home)
2) So back to zorg, if there are no probes in your mission, you cannot espionage (likewise for recyclers and recycling a df). So when the rest of your fleet trails along with the probes it seems necessary that the probes are leading the way.
Now here is my proposal (there will be others, any of them are reasonable) to the dots that were hinted at earlier:
An espionage mission takes place in some subspace nearby the planet so that the probes can see and report on it, the rest of the fleet is useless here, like baggage. So when the probes in the lead are destroyed, the rest of the fleet suddenly thinks "Well... did anyone remember to take note of how to get home?... no? ... " and is stranded somewhere outside where they are useful, they quickly lose their fuel and end up drifting. Maybe thats where bonus ships from expeditions come from! (in a storyboardish way, the odds that the number of lost ships and resoruces is stored is unlikely)
Thus no DF.
In the case of the moon destuction mission... well... when there is a battle, you expect there to be salvageable debris, thus the 60% metal and crystal. But in a storytelling kind of way, what happens when you direct the power needed to destroy a moon at a fleet? it seems obvious that the fleet isn't looking very good, in fact I wouldn't be surprised if the force was enough to knock the ships and/or debris entire planetslots away! MAYBE even 16 slots away
When something doesn't fit, make up a story and it all seems better
(unless you're on the losing side of the story, then its more like reading a tragedy )

that would be really funny, especially if the debris really did randomly show up elsewhere... xD
perhaps another way to think of it would be that:
probes are like spies
spies kill eachother in the shadows, and nobody (or at least most people don't) know
everyone else is in the secret operation when the spies are suddenly killed. unable to get information, they are mercilessly hunted down as spies and shot, dying a lonely death in the middle of the barbarian wastelands called space
