My question is are thee expeditions still valid or worth it?

I have tried quite a few lately on Speed and found them almost totally worthless. It is possible to win ships (usually about 10% of what you sent). But it is also possible for you to lose some or all of your ships. This seems to balance out in time as a loss. And when you get res, it is almost nothing.
