Well, we can't pretend that computers were as fast as us anyways. Simply recognizing a circle that is an actual object in a room took a robot more than 52 hours to do. If we were that slow, we shouldn't be alive.

You cant really compare man and machine in that way. Our brains do calculate a LOT more than the average computer every second, but the part of the brain that we "control" cannot work a math problem at the same speed as a calculator. We can't remember every little detail about every little thing, but a computer's data is never "forgotten".

If machines are ever given emotions and made self aware, I think we're doomed.

Ace- Not in our sense of comparing, anyways. Our brain, technically a computer, makes trillions of trillions of calculations as it is now, just to recognize a well-known object. The disadvantage, however, is that the brain does not tell us what these calculations are. Even if our ancestors knew what calculations the brain went through to recognize something such as a tiger, knowing those calculations might be overwhelming and thus would result in the person being killed by the tiger instead of running away. So really, we're making extremely complicated calculations and estimates, we just don't know what they are. You never know, our brains might even be using branches of mathematics we have never seen before.
