pretty much g-death and the amen alliance and renegades are raiding the server hard. if you have enough deut lying around to where someone is going to spend less than they get from hitting you, even if it is 1 deut less, you are profitable. The big players have no targets. They cannot hit each other unless something happens and they mess up. that means they only have the little guys as targets. They love to send 40k lg to hit you if you have fleet. So you are right they sometimes dont make a profit at all. And they have deut mines high enough to make the deut they spent back in short order. You cannot leave any ships lying around undefended. A modest defense of 10k light lasers and 50 plasma cannons will allow you to leave a large cargo lying around as long as you don't let too much res develop on your planet. good rule is dont build any storage buildings in the beginning. this will force you to move the res and use it when it gets to the 550k mark or your mines will stop. You can NEVER put enough def to protect any significant amount of res. 40k rocket launchers 20k light lasers 20k heavy lasers 40k ion cannons 20k gauss cannons 4k plasma cannons can defend about 4 million deut. any more than that and you are profitable as they will not spend 2k deut coming to get it. If you dont have a moon, make sure you fleet save to an inactive moon or an alliance mates moon, or they will get your fleet as soon as it gets back. if you trade ms's with your alliance mates, make sure your moon is over 9k in size or destroy (abandon if no death stars) and do it again. Anything less is just an easy target for people like perses who can easly send 3k death stars at someones moon, even when 50 will pop it.

well I can see a few leaving comments to the subject are fleeters so I can't turn your view, the ages are gone thats right but it just means the game took a downturn it isn't the way it was, alot didn't hit low players because its low, taking on someone your size and up is respectable. A few people mentioned the DF being worth the hit, and gotta bring you down there but they didn't collect on the DF after a hour so I took up on it.
I do appreciate the helpful points but I'm not here for pointers I've learned my lessons on here, but somebody has to take up for the low players new to the game. Don't get me wrong the game is great battles make the game what it is but battles between a 6.5 million pt player and someone with 10k is lop sided and doesn't make the game interesting for anyone.

I can learn too G-death.

I agree 100% with you rishard. I will not hit anyone who is more than 1/2 my size in perma points. Im not one to take candy from a baby. But time and time again people have suggested putting a 1/5 rule into permanent effect. however the top players all wine that they wont have anyone to hit. they need those poor noobs to make themselves feel powerful. I argued if they quit hitting the noobs then in short order the noobs would grow up and then they would have targets. but when 200 people read a post and 15 reply to it, how can you expect Zorg to really make a change.

hmmm zorg has been quiteth lately...

seeing how the playerbase is if u cut down the hunting ground to 1/5th i am not sure if it will benifit the growth... alot of miners i see ... fleeters will move away .... and raiders will extinct...

as long as you dont get a clear understanding about what is profit in terms of better growth i dont think this issue will remain a pain in the buttox.

in a few other threads i have seen players complaining that some raiders go for hits as low as 200k deut... plus another few hundred other resources and excusing themselves with the argument that hey it cost me 50k to launch so its really profit. i think i have tried to demonstrated in the chat a while back how you are hampering your own growth by doing this.

20 hits with 2kk surplus return equals to 40kk resource is a profit of 40 million

and

20 hits with 500k surplus return equals to 10kk resource is not a profit of 10 million its a loss of 30 million.

^^ the above was the old ways... the above was how the old ze players used to play with... hey it was for profit is just an excuse for mediocre and arrogance.

lets get out of that and find better targets.. trust there are still better targets.

A Tier System has been suggested before. I was all for it - but there are a lot of iffy spectators out there. I, for one, think it would level out the game.
I personally think that a 6-tier system is definately the way to go.

1. 0-8000
2. 8.000-40.000
3. 40.000-160.000
4. 120.000-360.000
5. 360.000-720.000
6. +720.000

Inactives can be hit by anyone.

And also... I suggest that we double black-name player production, and add a planet slot 17
in which 100k/70k/30k is mined hourly. Note: this can ONLY be struck by people in that system.
This will help out the smaller players by giving them targets that the big guys can't hit (unless you're stuck in the same system as on, in which case, move out...)

I will post a seperate topic with the system farm idea, and if anyone other than me and light like it, the tier idea.
