Short story:
Tried to ninja his follow up, successfully lifted my fleet, leaving 2 RIPs that should be recalled shortly after the hit, the rest of the fleet after the follow up. And then, while lifting those 2 RIPs, I've been shown capcha code after clicking the 3-rd and last "Continue"...

The result was:

You receive 0 units of Metal, 0 units of Crystal and 6.643 units of Deuterium.

The defender has lost a total of 15.000.000 units.
A debris field containing 6.000.000 units of Metal and 3.000.000 units of Crystal has formed in orbit around the planet.

Debris:

You collect; 6.000.000 units of Metal and 3.000.000 units of Crystal.

Nice hit, and luck... Lots of deut spent for just destroying 2 RIPs...

EDIT: Reported the showing of validation code after clicking the last "Continue" button.

Well that sure *****.......I agree the anti-bot needs to be in place but for it to pop up when you are actively defending/attacking can't be right. The last thing you need on a big hit is for that to happen when timing is everything. Surely this can be corrected as I would be a tad miffed (to put it mildly) if I was doing a lanx hit or timed attacks with recs only to miss it because I had to click continue on a captcha button!
