It is sensible to send cargos in a fleetcrash, if you think that the opponent fleet carries resources.
Also, he may have sent the cargos for fodder, if he didn't have any other fodder.

Nah, if there is alot of defense/ships, BS are best 'cos they have large cargo holds in numbers.

Maybe, i always have enough space in my battle fleet to take any res they have though. Plus cargoes are weaker than flies and just add to your losses.

The keyword here is "numbers".
If the other fleet has, let's say, 1000 cargoes, it is logical to assume that it may carry a lot of res, more than your battleships can carry, of course if your battleships number is somehow limited.
If you are able to send something like 20000 battleships, then of course you shouldn't send cargoes.

i used the cargos for fodder cuz i had no lf or hf

Next time use a less expensive fodder that can shoot back

i dint know theyd all be taken out in the first round i thought they had decent armour
