Lets say you do launch an attack on a planet before it is abandoned, then it is abandoned before the attack lands, sure there is a debris field, but how is there a combat report? Also, how would there be any addition to TD, since by the time the attack fleet arrives there is nothing to attack? Granted the recyclers would collect all the debris (assuming the attacker was savvy enough to send them on time)?

Ahh, is there some delay between abandoning a planet and the planet actually not being there anymore, or only if you abandon after a fleet is launched against it?

fleets will land a launched attack regardless if the person

1) abandons planet...in which case all control is gone and you also make it easier for the attacker as no techs are assigned to the planet anymore.

2)enters VM...as long as fleet was launched before defender goes into VM the attack will still land
