[Evaluation Needed] Carriers/Flagships

I was talking with some friends about this game and we came up with the idea of Carriers (like aircraft carriers) and flagships.

Carriers:
Can hold a bunch of Light Fighters/Heavy Fighters, have a large cargo capacity and some weapons/shields/armor of their own. They'll transport large amounts of Fighters go far away coordinates while adding more protection to these little guys. Make the fighters worth more than just fodder.

Flagships: Like ACS Defend but on the offensive. They should be expensive 1 mill of each or something similiar. Your alliance mates send their fleets to your planet with the Flagship on it. You send the flagship (which holds your allies fleets) + your fleet to an enemy. Be able for a couple of little guys to take out a big guy maybe. Alliances won't have to send wave after wave of little fleets into the teeth of a powerful defender they could send just one big one, It'll also boost the use of alliances, and it would make some epic battles.



These are some other ships that we thought of and I might as well put them here too...
Dreadnoughts: Something better than a Destroyer but still far weaker than a Deathstar (2x Destroyer) or something

Pocket Battleships: Middle Ground inbetween Cruiser and Battleship. Faster than a Battleship, but have similiar armor to a cruiser but more firepower than a cruiser.

The carriers would use less Deut than all the fighters traveling by themselves, and could be able to set up as an orbiting base for repair and refueling.

I would also like to see a heavy cargo ship. Something that can take a 100k in one trip. It would be slow as balls, but still.

The flagship need not even be very powerful, but it should be heavily armored and shielded, its a base ship from which the battle is commanded. However, a drawback could be if it is destroyed the other fleets in the armada sail home and the battle is abandoned after the round it was destroyed in. Just an idea.

I love this idea. Here's my input:

Name: Assault Carrier

Statistics

Structure Points: 700,000
Shield Strength: 2,000
Attack Points: 50

Notes: Due to this vessels lack of firepower it has been equipped with state of the art shielding and hull armour to make it more hardy during a battle. Should the Assault Carrier be destroyed during the course of the battle, all ships inside it will be destroyed too.

Cargo Capacity: 1,500,000 Units

Notes: The Assault Carrier is able to use its cargo space to transport small vessels into battle that would normally be slowing down the fleet. The amount of space a ship will take up while in the Assault Carriers cargo bay is equal to the sum of the resources taken to construct said ship. For example, an Assualt Carrier will be able to carry into battle a maximum of 500 Light Fighters. Nothing bigger than a Heavy Fighter may be carried on board this vessel. During battle any ships inside the Assault Carrier will add their damage and other statistics to the fight just as if they were sent along with the fleet, if any should be destroyed the Assault Carrier may use the resulting space to pillage resources from the target.

Base Speed: Undecided, but should incorporate the Hyperspace Engine and be on par with the Battleships/Battlecruisers.
Fuel Consumption (Deuterium): 1,000?

Notes: This vessel was designed purely based on speed and range. It allows a fleet to take with it liberal amounts of fodder to add to its combat capabilities and still let them keep pace with the faster Battleships/Battlecruisers. This was not designed to acompany fleets of Destroyers into battle.

Rapid Fire

Against Solar Satellite:5
Against Espionage Probe: 5
From Destroyer: 10
From Death Star: 50

Construction Cost

Metal: 400,000
Crystal: 300,000
Deuterium: 50,000

Pre-Requistes

Shipyard 12
Armour Technology 12

Hyperspace Engine 7

LF's should be able to leave their system... i remember being a little noober and thinking I was bad *** for sending my fleet of 20 LF to a planet 10 systems away... maybe LF's shouldn't leave galaxies? or be like IMP and only can go so far as the level of their engines? I dunno.


(btw what's IMO mean?)

I thought this was for discussion about a new vessel, not the capabilities of an existing one.

Getting a bit ahead of ourselves aren't we. There needs to be a lot more support from the playerbase than this as well as the fact that the developers have to think it's a good idea as well. Also, just to clear things up a bit, from the way you post, you seem to think i have an influence in the development side of ZE. This is not the case, forum moderators only have influence in the forums, we do not have any way of pushing this idea forward into development than the rest of you.
