There has been put forth several ideas / suggestions for new types of ships
and as I posted somewhere in these forumns,
There are sites that have
Atomic Bombers and then that led to having Atomic Cannons
then there are Gravitation Cannons which led too the fleeters wanting a ship more powerful than Death Stars
and the Arms race goes on and on,
there is no end
the only one that I felt was a good idea was
Stealth Bombers
Cost was high to build but did a lot of Damage to planetary defenses
came in hard and fast,
under the Radar,
but like an Esp Probe
sometimes they get destroyed
if so,
Your opponent gets to send u a big Smillie
and harvest a good sized DF
I like the idea because it involves a risk,
the attackers Stealth Bombers might come home,
but then again;
they might not

Esp Tech has nothing to do with it

and then we have all seen players get a good sized moon out of a small % Chance
on the 1st try
I think something like a 45 / 55 % chance

#5i've sent 17 consecutive unsuccessful moonshots before... the odds are only sometimes in our favour but anyways...
arguably you are suggesting non-combat warships (diplomatic units on some other games), i like the concept somewhat but my question is the specifics?
if its an attack mission, then things get complicated and they turn into kami ships
if its an espionage mission...
- high deut cost
- high ship cost
- chance of dealing damage
- chance of being destroyed
- base off probes
i would suggest something like, the more that are sent, the higher the success rate but the higher the get-destroy rate
perhaps post some speculative combat and cost figures?
this sounds to me to be a fast bomber with low stats but an espionage mission activates a special effect like the probe report.
possible, worth delving into the mechanics a bit more

#6hmm perhaps 100K of each res except duet (50K duet)to build....this way it lives up to the exspense mentioned ...i would like it....just i would not like it to be so fast...perhaps if your enemy has a lower esp tech then you...it doesnt show up in the overview screen...sort of like a missle ...if thts correct ....also there would need to be one thing tht outmatches it...perhaps the plasma cannon as it doesnt quite have anything to rapid fire against lol

#7i believe the point is it dies vs fleet, probably something like 1/4 of its cost into other fleet is enough to kill it or most fleet have rapid fire on it.
it would certainly be interesting to see if its worth using on turtles....

#9maybe something that isn't a stealth bomber but instead a "light bomber" and a "heavy bomber" light bombers are faster have rapid fire Lasers and Rockets Heavy Bombers are slow like a Recycler (or maybe slightly faster) and have rapid fire on Canons and probably much more expensive than light Bombers. and the Heavy Bombers would have some sort of Weapons that would be good against regular fleet, maybe it would have a couple of Canons on it itself to keep it from getting killed by Cruisers and less or something

the light bombers could be invisible until they are so close to a planet then show up on the overview page.
Or even better, allow this type of Technology for other ships with certain levels of Computer Tech and Espionage Tech, then be able to combat it defensively with High Espionage Technology or Higher Phalanx Buildings would have an option to scan for stealth ships at certain distances. but the Stealth would only work until the Ships got so close, and the research would be Expensive after the first level or the tech would always be a combination of other Technologies.
