Personalized Warfare

Proposing a concept of naming your group of ships.
When you put ships in the shipyard to be built you are required to give a name or already existing name for that batch of ships.
"Squadron SPY_1"
If it is an existing group then your ships will be added to that group.
When you select ships from your fleet menu (or a different menu lets call it personalized fleet menu) and u may select ships from specific squadrons to launch with.
This will be a nice touch to the warfare.
cause the overview will show something like this
"One of your fleet[Squadron SPY_1] from moon XYZ [X:XXX:X] is travelling towards planet ABCD [X:XXX:X]
Fleet Mission: Attack"
or may be more taunting...
"One of your fleet[We mean to obliterate you] from moon XYZ [X:XXX:X] is travelling towards planet ABCD [X:XXX:X]
Fleet Mission: Attack"

Doing it within the shipyard would be difficult - since players send out different numbers of ships constantly for plenty of different reasons. It's a nice idea though. Maybe if you were to add an optional "Title" to the ship brigade upon launch instead of during a build que?

I absolutely love the idea. LOVE IT, but need more details, and how it could be accomplished, perhaps using a technology no one uses much, such as IGN research

When you launch ships you will have to select your squadron.
It will have a list that will show you your squadron and its unit details.
<Select Squadron>
[Raid_Class_1]
[Raid_Class_2]
[Raid_Class_3]
[Attack_Class_1]
[Attack_Class_2]
[All]
each will have its own number of available ships. there may be more details in the drop down but it will be too much information.
when you select each drop down you will get the squadron list in the class fleet menu. just the available numbers will correspond to the squadron.
it has a few utility. i think torgard once proposed an idea like this. as ships cant be sent in batches. and i personally opposed it to say that this will be hard to maintain as each target requires different sort of fleet composition. but when you limit the number of squadron units i think selecting all is an acceptable work around.
think about that i dont think each ship needs to be labeled with names rather we can define squad formations and just select formations and send out the ships.
i dont know if this makes enough details to carry on with it. you may know from the attack squadron list to understand if someone just raided you or tried to catch ur fleet. its more personalized imo. and for trolls this will give u a very interesting witty way to taunt other players.

Looks like it would just add time to trying to launch fleets.
Seems pretty pointless to me, attack and throw a PM for the same effect ;P

I like the idea of tracking indivual ships and having the ability to assign squadrons and such. I'm just not sure how practical it is from a coding and processing point of view. It would be fun and add a customizable aspect to the game. Better yet, it would allow the existence of veteran ships with a bump in stats.

I don't see why veteran ships would have better stats. A ship that survived a battle would be weaker, if anything. That's like saying my new coffee pot isn't as good as the one you've had for 5 or 10 years.

The idea is to name the pilots ACE not the ships .. when they say squadron X they mean the pilots not the ships

Perhaps not logical, but the idea of the legendary ship with the veteran crew has always had a place in war mythology; The Black Pearl, the Millennium Falcon, the USS New Missouri and so forth.
