You can't send sats out on an attack, so why should probes? The fact that you can attack with them makes the espionage tech useless for simple raids. As of right now, you can send 1 probe on a probe mission to get the resource count, and 1 probe on an attack mission to get the defense and ship count, along with the WSA techs. Allowing probes to attack alone doesn't make much sense, IMO, even if it doesn't hurt anyone, and I think it does.
This tells me that their use as fodder has definitely been taken into consideration by developers already.
You seem to be suggesting that they should not be used in attacks at all, period.
That would eliminate fodder use - and also require rewrite of several Zorg approved player guides that prescribe probes for moonshots.
I think ace took the wrong ship for example. Mind you solar sats are not ships they are simple stationary orbital objects. they do not have any engines on them so obviously sending them out on attack wd be really weird.
The ship to consider here is Recyclers. They have attack powers shields and armor all that yet yo u cannot attack with them. the reason being they are recyclers. if you cannot attack with recyclers sure you shouldnt be able to attack with probes either.
some might argue probes are sent to gather planetary data. its a sort of attack. well if u carefully check your probe report... lemme share one here.
as it clearly states that its near your planet. it doesnt even land on your planet. if it doesnt land on your planet how does it even take off those resources?Spoiler:
logic says it doesnt. fact says it doesnt. yet the game allows it.
