The last time this subject was visited was 15 months ago! A lot can change and has changed in 15 months. The top dog has changed twice, some players have been crashed, quit, started mining, gave acount to girlfriend, quit, and has come back. Half of the player base is different. So I say let the discussion ride. Cause the only thing that has not changed in the past 15 months is how I feel about the topic. So let the player base that actually plays decide, not the player base that trolls the forums all day, spamming every thread, and disagreeing with other players because they dont like them antagonizing that player into possible flaming warnings. Let it be known that last sentence is the second most reason our legends have left the game! I am all for some sort of restriction, against the abusers of this feature!

in that case i have discussed my point of view on the problem with what is asked with fish in the chat. and i believe i was able to get through to him what i thought could be an unfairness of having the vmode changed that way. although he would consider that as very isolated instance but that is still a case where an user can be played out unfairly.

i hope he can provide the necessary explanations on that who ever wants to get the other sides point of view. (ask me in pm i will try to provide a comprehensive on that if he is not available)

if there can be a resolve of what i pointed out then by all means its a win for both sides.

Its worse to lose your fleet because you needed to wait till it lands so you can go in VM then losing a so called prey your after.
I know that this VM issue can backfire me as well when I'm hunting but I rather be able to use my VM any moment of the day regardless of action or not.

I see the pros and cons of both sides of this debate. Perhaps a compromise is in order.

If you want to enter VM while you still have a fleet out then you can however, all fleets will land on the nearest planet at top speed (yes I am advocating to ignore how much duet is available on the ship). Players will still be able to attack you for up to one hour after your last fleet landed. All buildings, research, ships, and defenses stop production the moment the VM button is activated.

I feel this compromise allows people to activate VM at a whim if real life is calling but still allows the hunter to catch their pray.

Some weaknesses with this compromise would be the issue of loosing track of a fleet you were tracking (I have never used a Sensor Phalanx so I don't know all the in's and out's of their use).

Does this sound like a workable compromise?

It doesn't seem plausible to me to have the ships suddenly start going faster just because of VM and would indeed screw up the lanx hit timing anyway, which was the original purpose of this topic unless my memory fails me (which is possible).

As for the "abuse" of VM while fleets in the air, I can see both sides of the argument. Indeed, the frustration of chasing and catching someone only to have them escape through VM must be a terrible feeling, and if there was a way to stop it I would be all for it. However, this solution would have to exempt those who do need VM because of RL issues that come up. RL does not wait for ZE (if only). Their are many players who cannot commit time every day to this game, and sometimes even the time they get is limited and sporadic. These players already have more challenges than the play-at-least-2-times-a-day fleeter, why add to it with taking away their safety valve in case of emergency? That being said, if a good solution to this problem is presented that takes all of this into account, I will throw my full support behind it.

Personally, I would not VM to avoid a crash. If you find my fleet, that's my fault and you deserve the profits.

In summary of that mini-wall, as of right now I'm against the proposed idea. However, the concept is good and perhaps with improvement I will support it.

How about this idea?

A player can go into VM anytime but if they have one of their own fleets land on their planet then that planet (and only that planet) can be attacked for 1 hour. This way nothing changes speeds or destinations but they can still be attacked if being chased.
