I understand that you are supposed to have a lot, but 25k infantry per large cargo is a lot, coming out to 50,000 attack, and although this is only against defenses, this could be dangerous for turtles who have no fleet.

Also, what happens at the end of the battle-is priority given to the looting or retrieval of your soldiers? And if there is insufficient cargo space for some reason after the battle, what would happen to the units?

Makes sense.

Perhaps the jet should be more like this:

Low-orbital/high-altitude fighter

Cost: 750 Metal, 750 Crystal, 50 Deuterium
Stats: 1,500 structure, 15 shield, 175 attack
Requirements: Shipyard 1
Rapid fire:
-From: Cruiser 5, Heavy fighter 3, Battle cruiser 3, Death star 50
-Against: Tanks 11, LL 11, RL 7, HL 5, Gauss 5, PC 5, Large shield 10, Small shield 15
Takes up 1,500 cargo

Perhaps using the structure points of the units (for infantry, the cost to train them and to forge their armor) But this has one problem, it separates the units into Army and Navy, not defense and fleet.

I admit, ever since I started this game I was a little disappointed that their was little planet interaction, i.e. Land battles, separate cities with their own resource outputs, military units like these, and land transports. Of course, those would require many things: You don't solely rule the planet/ you have to deploy them to attack other planets, the game would have to be graphic based and not word based, and you'd have to have a race and an overview for your cities. Those are the problems for my ideas, sorry for cluttering your topic with that.

Anyway, here are the issues that I have with you idea schnitter, other than the one in the first paragraph. First of all, how would this work? Are they defensive units, or are they loaded onto ships and transported to planets to attack? If the second is the case, then a new mission would have to be created, one that would allow every ship, besides probes and sats, to deploy the new units to the planet in question. Also, it really doesn't fit a space game, but it is an awesome idea. I still like it though, and it would be interesting to see a space and land crossover game.

My understanding is that they are stored on planet normally, and can be used to defend against other land based units. They are capable, however, of being loaded onto ships, using the cargo space for equipment. Then they are deployed, and focus their attacks on defenses and other ground units.

One question I have is this: how do you limit the number of soldiers, besides cost? Perhaps introducing a "population" factor would be the best solution, With a maximum enlistment of 75%, and a population growth rate of .5% a day, that would seem to me the best way to do this.

way you see it is not really that hard, they are present in the combat report if their loaded on the ship or on a planet.

I don't think you would need a new mission, you would simply add them during the fleet selection or when you select how much resources you want to send along, as they could be treated as either cargo or fleet units, depending on how you look at them.

your kidding right? it IS, like you said, a text based, you can put pretty much anything. this game never mentions troops of vehicles, it will expand the way we play. why do you think a suggestion topic is up in the forums?
