Yeah, that's my favourite too. I programmed it as a one click interface. You just click the planet name and the planet changes. It works through the whole site too, so if your on the buildings page and click another planet - you get straight to that planets building page. same for research/resource etc.

If your on another page, like empire or alliance and you click the planet then you go through to that planets overview page.

It worked really nice :)

You can actually build your own menu and use with the game. Just make sure the links you use are links also used in the game.

In this custom menu, you can also put the chat as you picture here. If your menu is good, we can even include it in a selection from user options.

Apart from this, a game chat on left frame sounds like a nice idea. You should know though that current chat allows private chat rooms (+sound). You just type /join RoomName

So you can easily use your alliance tag for a public channel for your alliance and something else as a private channel. You don't even have to be in the main channel (to avoid distracting sounds perhaps or you can close the sounds).

I understand though that such kind of live chat at the left menu frame would be indeed very interesting and I will forward it to see how far we can get with it.

I'm a amateur vb.net programmer and created a little test project. Here is a screen shot. I haven't written any advantages into the game and the menu system is practically identical. I have since abanded the project as it was primarily for my alliance to use, but i figured most people wouldn't trust the use of an unsigned .exe and i've also given up on developing an alliance for now. I also realised that the program may be breaking the rules. All of this helped to kill the project.

Having said that, i think it would be great for ZE to come up with something similar.

The argument that it will cause lag is null because you can simply use 3rd Party Chat Servers such as the one we use now. The only thing you're changing is the interface so the ZE servers wouldn't take the hit.
You could create a thread in Suggestions with this and more tools. 3 other players already have and I think this could become a really good hit among players.

Feel free to create and distribute menus as long as they use only existing links.

We might copy some of your menu layout though into the standard one (or though options). I really like it.

understood, thanks. okay i will carry on with developing it a bit further.

If you want, after i have developed it bit further, i will upload the source. I think that users without any knowledge of programming will trust an application that has been approved or even modified by the ZE admin.

I saw that before I posted. ;)

The "all server chat" is Great, but the current client is painfully rudimentary and offers 0 options for alliances to sharpen in-game communications and general fellowship via private alliance chat.

Here is My arguement over the current Chat system It could be alot better. No one ever clicks it. I am open to leave chat tab for 3rd party for overall Servers general chat. If your worries about lag, then only create a ingame Alliance chat box only then. Each alliance will then have real time chat ingame with members only, a better cost effective choice in its self would help player base sticking and growing. Lets keep this simple to just Alliance chat ingame, otherwsie we will start to overthink things and make them impossible, alliance in game chat will make a huge difference in game and probably make the best impact.
