I would like to see what everyone thinks of the following idea.
Myplus addition, colony move.
Backstory: For a large number of rubies a mysterious and advanced alien race will create a jumpgate large enough to move your colony and moon to another location. The jumpgate is rendered useless after one use and recycled by said race.
Ruby cost: 200-250
Pros: Move colony to destination of your choice as long as there is not a planet there currently.
Cons: Time to jump 24-48 Hours, locks out that planet/moon for the duration (You will not be able to select that planet from the colony listing) (Though attacks can still be made on that planet), as per the regular jump gate all resources are lost from the moon/planet once the jump is made.
Similar to how abandoned planets are shown as with a count down a link to the new colony location can be shown with the count down on when the move will take place.
The purpose is to help bring in some extra money for ZE and allow players the option to move a colony if they desire without having to abandon and recolonize. The costs associated with the move and the lock out time would be to prevent someone attempting to repeatedly move their colonies to avoid having to place roamers etc.
Re: MyPlus addition - Colony move
#2not sure if i agree with this , but it maybe better to have a mine/buildings cost to the move as well... ie all buildings suffer a 2 level reduction (due to "earth" tremors) and any solar sats / fleet in system have 50% damage...
i'm also not clear on what should happen to the power output of solar sats / fusion plants ... should that remain fixed to the initial value or have another set of values generated for the destination...
also maybe you should require teraform level 2 at least per galaxy to move...
would you have different ruby costs dependent on the distance required to move... ?
the lock out period should be at least 48 hours..
as an aside maybe asheron should think about coupling this premise with his stealth planet idea , and go for a "fleet of worlds" style enhancement... (ie moving system... with long lay over / rests) ?

Re: MyPlus addition - Colony move
#3Well you would have the resource costs associated with a day or more (whichever time is decided on) production lost since you would not be able to land a fleet to pull the resource off and it would be lost upon jump.
As far as the temp change on moving... I don't see that as a big issue, it's random anyway to my understanding. So you can get a hot planet in slot 15 and a cold in slot 1, am I right?
The idea is really geared towards those who for whatever reason would like to move an established colony. It may be that the area you were in everyone went inactive and got deleted, maybe you just messed up in placement.
All the buildings losing a level of production would kind of defeat the purpose.
I honestly wouldn't see it being used all the time at 250 rubies per use and with a 48 hour lock out of the planet. I think of it as more of a convenience feature than anything.

Re: MyPlus addition - Colony move
#4I presume this does would not apply to home colonies as that would be a headache
Re: MyPlus addition - Colony move
#5I guess it has allready been disaproved... But i see no harm in it... +1

#7could you elaborate on what you see as specific problems with a home world move...?kray00r wrote

i don't actually see its any different... and don't see why you can't delete a home planet either... (as long as you always have at least 1 remaining)

#8This would remove opportunity costs to roamers. I am not in favor.

#9How do you mean Nuada?
48 hour lockout is a pretty decent amount of time, though it could even be something like 5 days or 7 days.
The purpose is not to jump your planets around to get to new targets, it's simply to make a semi permanent move of an anchor colony. Though in ZE's eyes if it were used constantly I'm sure they would enjoy the revenue lol!

Re: MyPlus addition - Colony move
#10Definitely agree with this, it will take out the whole point of having a roamer when the target can just move the colony, attacking and tracking fleets will become much harder with planets constantly being moved. Sorry, but i disagree, good thought though.Nuada wrote:This would remove opportunity costs to roamers. I am not in favor.
