Milking&Fleet Crashing on retirement

#1
Hi,

I can count a few emails in the main support email with reports regarding big-fat-cow and the concerns of some about the fate of his fleet/resources.

Surely, we need more clear ruling/policy regarding people that leave the game. So far, we have been banning people that were using middle mans to boost a newly created account but we have not been taking action for a fleet crashing on a friend. Surely this has happened a few times in the past and it has gone unpunished.

Our position is against such a tactic. It is named as milking in our book. Probably not in everyone's book and this is what this discussion is all about; you are invited to judge this sort of action.

We have also decided to create a new feature that will make the game policing playerbase driven. This has been deemed important in order to eradicate any doubts or propaganda regarding fairness in any universe. Details in suggestions thread under the title: Missions history

Imo If the fleet would just sit there it would not be destroyed (hence high rank players refuse to FS). Where i'm getting at is I believe the fleet crash is not cheating but simply using available methods to keep the Resources in the server (I believe those at The Chosen have spread the resources around each other to make it fair, for them being the only players able to crash the fleet). "Good Bye Transports" however are defiantly cheating as they are sending resources to a player without conducting a trade (Milking).

a player leaving could split his or her fleet among planets and moons. this could divide it into a possible 21 smaller fleets making it easier to crash for all if the idea is to keep the res in the server. I really see no issue with BFC giving his fleet up to his m8s as they probably helped him build it in some fashion or another. that is what alliances do. I do think a farewell transport is cheating. I think perhaps some are irritated that they no longer have a chance at that fleet because they have hunted it for so long and are now crying about someone doing something they themselves would do.

I'm guessing this will be quite a controversal topic with split opinions,
Retirement crashes have occurred since the beginning of ZE though not much has been said about them,
It will be interesting to see everyone's opinions :)

When I "Left" a while back I was sure I would return and just v-moded my account, had I known that I was leaving and not returning to the game I would most likely have still v-moded anyways, too much drama otherwise, lol

Whilst the player may want to keep resources within the server sending to others may be considered pushing/pulling depending on the scenario, leaving the fleet/ resources sitting to be crashed/raided would be the most appropriate way forward, as thinman stated there are alternatives too, so long as the rules are followed to create fair gameplay

personally i think they are considered milking, hes not having his fleet crashed, hes giving away the resources used to create the fleet there was no skill or hunt, he gave them to a friend, just as someone would give resources to a friend all the same imo, also its just boosting the more powerful players to even higher and more unattainble heights....

well of course i have my opinion on the matter..having done both received and given my fleet. This was 1st on speed i have received 'benefits' of a friend quitting but as the logs will clearly show i was involved and lost ships in the reduction of cow's fleet.

1 side is to me a person who has invested time like cow did to build such a monster should have the rights to do what he wanted for his final curtain call.the reason this is a topic at all is because he was able to save and protect his fleet as long as he did and this was a monster hit.But how many have done such things in just the last 6 weeks outside of chosen.I know neeman gave his fleet to steadyhand cause i was hunting him and would rather have his friend benefit before i eventually caught him and took the fleet for myself. The spacemanspiff/dubberman/GoD plastered the stat page a few weeks ago clearly indicating a 'transfer' of res between then alliance mates.Another thing plastering the stat page this week is someone raiding over 2 billion res before monday even rolled around with no fleet destruction clearly indicating some attack 'milking' to help rebuild what i had ninjad away. The magnitude of the hit is clearly what the b!tch is about but for many in zorg to say their hands are clean..and some can mind you..is very far and few inbetween.

the other side i have also been apart of.I could have followed suit when i left Xtreme and feed what was then twice as large as the next closest person to VVV.Instead i choose to feed it to kilox a competitor of VVV and hope some competition would come of it.All it did when they found out what i did with it was force a war and VVV still ended up with the res anyhow.

Bottom line is let the players choose their final curtain call..whether to feed it or retire with it in perma VM as some have decided to do cause if you call for the ban of it now..there is a multi magnitude of the playerbase that would be banned.

you can decide how you want but i didnt see you post here when neeman feed his fleet to steadyhand..and the reason is they didnt make it public in forums for the good bye like cow n perses did.In other words post big good-byes in forums is bannable but keep it quiet no tell no punishment is the course of action you are sugggesting.

and the other proof of what i am saying is the fact this discussion was openned only in speed forum rather than full forum discussion area where this thread should have been openned to begin with.

love me hate me you know i can handle it either way but no one watches speed closer than Rob n Dave and with each 'improvement' i.e. stat board and whatever this next phase(seeing peoples last 24 hour activity) or however that will be worked just makes it 1 more step easier for me to study watch n hunt.Even while in VM the few days this week i still know what everyone is doing.

I agree -Death- has a great point let the players who worked so hard up until that point in time decide what they are going to do almost every player has crashed their fleet into a player for either the resources back or just to help their friends. Most people will not say they did but most indeed have,

and i will say this the 3 people who was large enough to partake in the battle was only ones to benefit directly from the battle..the others had to go earn it :(

sOoooO leads to the age old saying 'believe half of what you see and none of what you hear'! ;)

cause if i believed everything i heard ..i might believe some of those same people crying in their emails to you Zorg are the same people offering 40 to 50% of the DF to try and trap me in an attack..just for information. No where do i see in milking rules does it say ..unless someone provides you information in which it is okay to milk/push that player with resources gained from Df's.
