when starting a new acct, have a 7-8 step Tutorial to teach the Game to the New-Bee player
and an explanation for the need to do so
when completing each step there is a "Reward for doing so

on the Overview page have small Icons to click on
must be done in order, as 1 step is completed another lights up so they cannot overlook it

#1:
Build a solar mine for energy / Now build 1 Level of Metal / Crystal / Deut Mines
Reward - 1 Level of each

#2:
Build 1 Level of Robots
reward - 1 Level of Robots

#3:
Build a Research Lab
Reward - 1 level of Lab

#4
Now research the Techs needed to get a Shipyard
Reward - 1 Level of Lab

#5
Build a shipyard
Reward - 1 Level of Shipyard

#6
Now they can build Solar Sats for energy
a rocket Launcher for defense
a small cargo for transporting Resources
Reward - 1 unit of each

#7
Now up the Lab to research the Techs needed for an ESP Probe so they can probe an Inactive and Raid / Farm for extra Resources
this will teach them how to Farm Inactives to garner the extra Resources so Baddly needed to grow their Acct faster

#8:
Research the Techs needed to build a Recycler
and harvest a DF somewhere
Reward - 1 recycler

and maybe 1 or 2 more steps I didn't cover
maybe a colony ship so they can colonize their 1st colony
and doing a Fleet Save to protect themselves from all us
"Bullies"

After completing all the steps in the Tutorial a reward of ???
how about--- 100 Rubies

By now; Having the Techs and Shipyard high enough to build a recycler
if they don't know how to Play the Game;
They are not going to stick around anyway,
No Amount of "Special" programing is going to keep them active

I agree to a degree that there could be a reward system for reaching certain levels.

However, for those prepared to follow the on screen "Help" tab which is quite visible, there is a players guide already. Also, when you start a new account, there is a tutorial already.

What would help is as I have said before, your first world, the crappy little one that you start with, the one that is pretty useless, make it BIGGER! In addition to that, give that world a moon, by default, also, make it BIG!
