Expeditions

Are expeditions really worthwhile in the long run? I realize that it's possible to find materials and other ships, but the rewards tend to be modest, and there's always a risk of losing everything you send out to a black hole.

Is there some strategy in the type of ships sent out that increases the odds of being rewarded over punished (e.g. can more maneuverable ships more easily avoid destruction)?

They can be if you do it correctly. Although I guess there isnt really a correct way more than the best way to get the most out of it that you can.

Cargos usually do the best because you come upon resources most of the time you win the expedition "Lotto".

If you send attack ships with as well, then you will be set because sometimes you can gain resources as well as a small attack fleet :)

That is the best i have for you

I found a calculator for expiditions for another game, but there may be differences...

might be funny to have a player who spams expiditions as the primary growth method. statistically I wonder if you would come up ahead or behind

You would come up behind on here. I have failed many and excelled in almost one.

I have heard of others being lucky though. This is the best way, if you have ships you do not wish to keep or only use as fodder, send them and you may get lucky. If you lose them, you lose them. Just no DF.

I think that's too bad. To me, expeditions are one of the most compelling possibilities in a space game; entire television series have been based on the sole premise of the single-ship expedition. Really thinking about it, Zorg Empire would benefit from a much more extensive set of expedition outcomes, even if most of them had no in-game consequences and were merely humorous or mysterious.

Yes, you are very true in saying that.

They base it off of percentages and what ships you send with.

Large Cargos for example, have a chance at finding more Large Cargos, resources that can fill up the amount of total carrying capacity of the ships, and sometimes you have a chance at finding other ships.

I have not tested it in forever to see if it has changed but I believe there are a few sayings when the ships get back but usually you lose your ships... From my experience, it could be different luck for someone else.

There are currently some ways to get good results. Not many know the ways. We intend to improve this part of the game soon.
