Introducing Zorg Empire GENERALS: A tournament Server

Greetings,

We are going to launch a tournament universe. This will be a RESETING universe.

First tournament will last 1 month. We are initially planning to launch it as soon as possible and hopefully in August 01 2012 (in 9 days).

The universe is currently in design phase (nothing is finalized yet). The universe will be based on Massacre setup. Here are the details overview and any difference to Massacre universe.

-Storages: Same as SPEED and MASSACRE
-The DF and resources in various stats are being calculated in metal value at a trade ratio 3:2:1
-Battle Engine: Massacre

SPECIAL FEATURES FOR TOURNAMENT UNIVERSE

TACTICAL SELECTION AT THE BEGINNING
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=--=-
-Each player gets to choose a tactic at the start of the game. There will be 4 tactics to choose from and you will not be able to change them later. Each tactic brings special traits available only to the players who chose it.

Tactic 1)
Title: Miner
Bonuses: +10% production for metal, crystal, deuterium and crystal.
Special Buildings: Storage Den (Building to hide resources from raiding)


Tactic 2)
Title: Turtle
Bonuses: 90% defence regeneration (instead of the universal 70%).
Special Unit: Voyager (Expedition Ship which will perform better in expedition journeys)

Tactic 3)
Title: Raider
Bonuses: 10% cheaper deuterium consumption, +2 fleet slots
Special Unit: Star Raider (details at suggestions thread)

Tactic 4)
Title: Fleeter
Bonuses: +1 armor/+1 shields/+1 Weapons, 10% cheaper deuterium consumption
Special Unit: Predator (details at suggestions thread)


Plus Options:

There will be 10 available options for a total price of 240 rubies which will be sold for $9.99.
This means that for $9.99 one player will be able to get FULL bonuses till the round end.
The only reason for a player to buy more rubies, would be to send to another player.

Here if the full list. Every option can be activated once and lasts till the tournament end.
25% Metal Production for 30 Rubies
25% Crystal Production for 30 Rubies
25% Deuterium Production for 30 Rubies
25% Crystal Production for 30 rubies

Shipyard (Both Defenses and Ships) production time 25% faster for 30 rubies
Buildings production time 25% faster for 25 rubies
Research Speed 25% faster for 25 rubies

Building Queue (+3) for 10 Rubies
Increased Storages size by 25% for 10 Rubies
+50 fields on any newfound planet for 10 Rubies
+1 fleet slot for 10 Rubies


Points Ranking
Winner will be decided by total points.

Top 10 Winners will enter the Tournament Round Winners where each round will be saved separately and forever.

All tournament participants will enter the Tournament Hall of Fame which will work as following:
-Building points + 2*Defense Points + 3*Fleet points + 4*Research Points / 1 000 000 will be the added points per tournament.
-This ranking will not be reset and all future tournament points will be recorded here for overall performance in the tournament server.

For the miner tactic, will the Storage Den have a limit to how much it can hold?

Probably the only limit will be the upgrading costs. The amount of saving space will rise as it is upgraded. We do not have details on this yet and we are open to suggestions.

I think this is how it should be so players don't stock up indefinitely.

level 1 storage space
1.000.000 metal
500.000 crystal
100.000 deuterium

cost
350.000 metal
200.000 crystal
50.000 deuterium

level 2 storage space
2.000.000 metal
1.000.000 crystal
200.000 deuterium

cost
700.000 metal
400.000 crystal
100.000 deuterium

That way you can't stock up resources inside the bank to build the next level.

And I also think it should have a level limit. Since the server only lasts a month, it shouldn't be too high. perhaps level 25. The resource cost gets to be high, but the resource production IS 60x

a great idea Zorg i love it i can't wait for the tournament this is so **** great idea :D:D:D:.....but what will be the prizes for the winner of the tournament Zorg? :P..

:lol: I think that the hall of fame thing would be enough. Maybe some rubies if they play on other servers. Couldn't be happier with the options!

I think the bonuses based on style are a stroke of genius.

The faster production rates and such are great!

We found this idea very worthwhile and we will incorporate it. The numbers are a bit off but we will work on them on a case study; it is very difficult to randomly get any good numbers; we need to test first.

The same goes for the game speeds; the initial speed ideas are not yet tested. They will be tested and we will finalize the before launch. For now, the initial desire is to have equal speeds of a month gameplay. Then through each tournament we will find the ideal round length and metrics.

Regarding prizes, entertainment and glory are enough imo but I know you are all used for prizes and such. However for now there will be no special prizes. We are not going to advertise big for this either. We mostly want to see if people will participate. According to participation and financial metrics we will design future rounds (if any).

Anyone will be able to enter the tournament. The bonuses are optional, like Plus! in current universes; they are available to anyone that can afford them.

Sounds good. Will there be different lengths of times for the universes?

like you said that the first one will last a month. will there be some special restarts that last longer?
