On the V-moding of long term inactives, my response would be:

hmmm...
as a player who has PAYED to keep using some inactives, I think I'm entitled to a restitution for every inactive that was V-moded after it has received rubies from my account for the precise reason of keeping it alive!

and overall a decision I cannot support!

Yeah, I'm trying to be polite here.

But that basically makes it impossible for new players to grow. The older players will have a major "head start" over any new players that do stick around.

This is going to make raiding almost worthless. It forces people to fleet and/or mine almost exclusively. I would like it if this decision was reversed. But if it isn't, I'm afraid there will probably be a lot of people that will quit.

Older, established players will always have an advantage lol....was no different when I started ....plenty more players with far more points than me out there....it is what it is....

Yes, but now they will have a super advantage.

This is like telling someone they are going to be in a race, giving someone a head start, and then by the way saying they have to hop on one foot, while the other person doesn't.

As i have donated to many inactive Accounts to keep them around for all players this is a wrong move that very well kill the game.
It would have been better to say you will take 1 Ruby every week until gone then 30 days later the account gets deleted.
So am I going to get a refund from sending Rubies to inactive for the 3 years that I have played?

I appreciate your point of view...but tbh some of the ruby fed inactives have been left on the server for far too long...a year and then some in many cases

Putting long term inactives in vmodus is in my humble opinion not the best solution there is.
People who left the account probabably did this willingly to aid the community.

Changing the way players left the game, is unfair.

I think there is a better way to solve the matter both from a commercial point of view and from a gamers point of view.
The fact that accounts can exist until the end of time is not a good thing.

Although vmodus is a good feature, it should not be allowed without limit.
Any normal player can take a real vacation, but after a certain amount of time without logging in to the account this should not be free.

I say after (vmode free period) charge 1 ruby per week for being inactive.
In this way an account with rubies will automatically disappear wether it is in vmodus or inactive it makes no difference.

Leading to a healthy cleaning up of accounts over time.
An account with 50 rubies would last around 2 years and after it will disappear in the normal clean up cycle.

that is actually a very good point!
a solution like this would get my support (if that counts for anything lol)

X-TREME universe
-All newcomers have 20% chance to start with a moon size 7000 to 9000 to their homeplanet.
-All newcomers start with a free Small Cargo, a free Recycler and a free Espionage ship on their home planet.

<<

great to see these things being implemented for the newbees!
I think it might get them along quite a bit for starters...
but errr....call me a dumbass...but ....
are you saying that 1 out 5 starters gets a moon at start of game?
those guys will then be the envy of the other 80% not being that lucky, but ok...at least it creates competition in the lower ranks from the get - go...lol

I gotta go look for those new blue marbles ... :D
