Noodle, I agree with you on the points of using rubies for trade. There is no disagreement there. But until a game fix is in place to protect the community and monitor the transactions, it can't be allowed.
And Paradox, get your panties out of the bundle. I was talking to Spankie. You still didn't answer my question so I really don't give a rats ***.
The decision has been made. I am in favor of allowing rubies to be traded for resources. Why do you people have such a problem with that?
Re: Trading rubies
#22Yeah, it's a good idea. We just need a way to make sure people don't get ripped off. Maybe Noodle's idea of GO's should be put into practice?

Re: Trading rubies
#24I personally quite like the ability to trade for rubies because frankly I can't afford the stupid things. Yes it will give those who have more money than others the edge but in any game with donations this is always the case. I've seen countless games where individual players have grown immensly strong simply due to the fact that they could make donations. One of the two things in my opinion that helps level this playing feild is the ability to trade these donation materials. In Zorg yeah rubies may not be point providing but if used properly they can help generate more income then you purchased them from and players still have a net gain which leads to an increase in points.
My only real concern is the fact that people have been ripped off. I'm thinking that we hold off the trading of rubies until the new proposed building the "Trading Post" is created because this could give the admins the ability to create set trade limits and moniter all transactions. *Edit: While some people might think "Oh that will take forever to implement" I'd much rather have a safe method then something that can be done immeadietly or quickly.
Hopefully this actually sounds somewhat decent and brings up some good points. I just woke up so my brain really isn't functioning but yeah if I sound like an idiot with any of the points above my bad.

Re: Trading rubies
#25Hello again,
I decided to come up with a more structured reply.
First of all, it is nice to see many people being passionate about the issue. Just try not to get to the downside of it; its a game and above all we should all look to have fun.
Secondly, I would like to explain the issue that has arised with the moderatos. Some players complained that they should have no saying in the rules and that they acted outside their rights.
In my perspective (I am the sole responsible person for the moderators) they did perfectly in the specific issue. I will explain why;
a)They brought the issue on our attention.
b)They followed the rules of the game and did what they could do within their powers to keep the game rules: They forbidden forum posts for rubies trade till a decision from moderation arises.
So in this sense, I got to applaud their actions and not the opposite.
To the issue now on Rubies now.
Firstly, it is not as easy it sounds. We got many parameters to this problem.
a)The game income is partially affected by Imperial Support packages used. If a player sales 4 million resources for 1 ruby while we give like 1 million for 20, then we got serious antagonizing problems.
b)Of course Imperial Support comes out of thin air while player resources traded come out of existing resources. So inflation (balance of game resources) is not affected. (In Imperial Support package, we control inflation by setting a low ammount.)
c)Trading resources for Rubies is also good for players that have no way to obtain rubies and still need them (ie building queue is so important).
d)It would be good to support the rubies idea, as it would give a better dynamic to the game.
e)The biggest problem out of the free trading, is that some players can take advantage other players in a very bad way. We are not concerned about someone becoming too powerful out of this as much as we are concerned about the players that will be caught sleeping for this person to become too powerful.
f)We do have the new building coming; Trade post. When this is enabled, trade forum will close - your ships will not be able to any longer transport goods to other PLAYERS and all trading in-game will happen through that post. (It will be very handy, we promise this). So anyway, we speak for a very short term decision.
We will give you some more time to express your point of view, whichever this is. Feel free to speak for the administration in this post; PERMITTED. Do not speak for the moderators though: NOT PERMITTED.
We will announce final decision after hearing some more of your views.

Re: Trading rubies
#26i think it is agood idea to be able to trade rubies it brings a new element into the game may not be fair but not much in zorg is fair so it can only give more options and make it more interesting
Re: Trading rubies
#27Spankie wrote:I would like to know who made the decision to discontinue trading rubies. If it was not admin, then it is still acceptable. Moderators are NOT here to make up rules as they see fit. If you want to trade at a specific rate, send a message to that player the exact amount and make him return a reply agreeing. If he does not live up to the trade, turn his worthless sorry behind into the Admin with a copy of the notes. They can see what trades actually took place and if a trade is not met by the agreement, they can punish the player.
But it is NOT UP TO THE FORUM MODERATORS TO MAKE UP RULES.
i give credit only to warriors but in this instance well spoken spankie
when i bite i bite hard dont mess with the fish
Re: Trading rubies
#28I think its totally unfair to trade rubies for resource. It totally breaches the milking rule.
But if you feel trading rubies will help the economy to maintain this game than I would have to agree.

Re: Trading rubies
#29i am sorry but rubies make res... so they would have a high value. for example lets use trox who is the greatest miner in the game right now. if he were to get 15 rubies and use the +25 production he would most likely make several hundred million res in that week. so if he bought the 15 rubies for lets say 1 mill deut per ruby that would be 15 mill deut (i make a lot more then this in a week without the production bonus) then the person who is in the plus is the trader. i think the bonus in deut production would more then pay the cost of the rubies plus if he buys 20 rubies he will have 5 rubies extra to use for the merchant to trade the rest of his deut for metal at 1:4 ratio.
You can't stop me I'm on a boat!
Re: Trading rubies
#30I see a major problem with The admin's responce. Although I agree with "The Trading Post" idea, there is a big problem with not being able to transport to another player. Players that make big hits in the game usually rely on their alliance mates to help collect the debris field, then what is collected is sent back to the person that made the hit. If we are no longer allowed to transport to another player then alliance mates will not be able to help the way they have all along.
