Re: Fleeter, Miner, or Turtle?

If I were a turtle, I would already be in a bowl. Turtle soup!
If I were a fleeter I could join in the feeding frenzy until I get eaten too.
If I were a turtle there's nothing much I can do if the chef wants a turtle soup.
If I were a fleeter I could keep running while picking up food along the way. Until the predator catches up anyway.

If you like sim city, go for mines. Only this time you are up against hostile aliens. :P
If you like a little action, try raiding.
If you like playing on the edge, try fleeting!
If you like to be a turtle... uhm... Why do you even want to be a turtle? :D

PS: The world of fleeting is like feeding frenzy. If everybody can avoid getting eaten, fleeters will die out. But such a world does not exist. So meh. :P

the excitement in that sentence is very tempting..
No where in my posts did I use the word excitement or any other word expressing joy or liveliness when talking about mining. But yes, it isn't exactly the most exhilarating experience most people can have.

the excitement in that sentence is very tempting..i'll just be all 3 and that way i regen resources..which happens to be amongst the highest ..and a fleeter..that way i can sit an do nothing for for mines that was built off other peoples fleets while i wait till 2012 to actually see the 'net' profit from them..another dead horse subject..the math in mining in zorg is astronamically slow because of the double the next upgrade vs hourly production from it...anyhow each their own.. but all the miners and their 'perma' points..that daily production of just under 115 mil a day from my mines on 19 perma planets was produced by being a fleeter. As to those members of the mill light laser club...they are obviuosly built for me to crash..and crash them i will here really soon
Mining is not for those who want to have fun in this game its for those who want to chill or dont have that much time to play the game.

Chill, yes. Don't have enough time to spend, sure. But to say people are not having fun based solely on your experiences alone is ignorant. Who are you to decide whether people are having fun or not, seems foolish to me.

What, are people sitting at their desks punching in buttons to build up mines because they hate it? :?

Metal Mine (Level 40)
Produces metal, the main constituent of buildings, ships and defenses.
Resources Needed : Metal: 663.439.939 Crystal: 165.859.984

yeah the upgrades for me to do that on multiple planets will pay for itself...at mines current rate of production to build that upgrade to 41 will take 166 days or just over 5 months..now we can throw those IRS type of logic in there and say..if i pull from other planets or raid blah blah blah..then it isn't paying for itself is it..

but once again dead horse play it how you want../goes to check ranking page..yep closing in on 14 mil points so my logic of thinking is incorrect so toss all those if i do this that or the other thing you want at me..i'll keep growing all the same ;)

Your logic is not wrong. In fact, I agree with you completely. I made no attempt to say otherwise.

There are flaws with every tactic, as you explained with mining, very well I might add. This is not to say that mining is not a viable playing style. It has its draw backs, sure, just like every other tactic there is. Everything has a cost.

Ironically, fleeters- although the most active of all players- burn out and quit faster than miners and turtles. Turtles are the next to go (compared to miners). Seems they are quick to quit the game when a monster fleet ruins their empires.

Those that seem to stick around are those that have a balance of fleet and mines. They're seldom in the Top 5, but they're always in the Top 50 and remain there while others show the Evil i. There has to be something said for that.

It all goes down to the style you like most. But I will have to agree with whover says mining all the way is crap,at least for me it was.I spend like 5 months raiding inactives trying to make as little enemies as possible and build just mines(I dont even have a mobile planet). This day I have a small fleet and I do a few hits on active peeps.I have to say Im enjoying the game more today than I did a while back.
The thing is ,if you dont have time to play, just dont play it cause than you will get raided.Fleeter/turtle/miner or conbinations, whatever you play you need to at least check you planets 2 times a day ,even for 10 mins and burn/transport what you got.
If you leave stuff around it will be taken and most probably you will quit.
