People are already hesitant to launch capital ships as it is. Death Stars are practically worthless and even if Rapid Fire would be implemented, they'd still be hangar queens if a reflection hit takes them out.

It would be an obvious mistake to make this a "feature".

I agree on a higher points level for n00b protection. 100K would be great and allow a lot more people to get involved in the management of their empires for a longer period of time before worrying about playing against more seasoned players.

I just got over 26k points, and I think it would be awful for them to change it to 100k because that seems like too much to me. Most of the top players only have a few hundred thousand points so it would separate the strong from the weak and no player would ever become strong, they would just quit because, when you first play, you get use to the bad things but when that player actually gets to 100k and someone like Squirrel, Khan, or SBT completely destroys their long, hard earned fleet, they would simply quit. When you are newer, you get use to hits like that, but with 100k cap, they players wouldn't get that experience. I think it would be better at 25k or 50k points. As for the reflection, I would rather have that gone because that makes the RIP ineffective. It already has the weakness of its slow speed, but making them be destroyed their first battle, would make me just build a few thousand destroyers or BShips instead.

I personally don't like the reflection aspect of the battle engine. The whole purpose of playing any game is to win or be among the best, and the only way to do that is to successfully attack a smaller or weaker fleet. The more this is done, the better a player does. Reflection damage is supposed to help the weaker player in a particular battle, but it also ends up hurting a middle tier player who is trying to get bigger. I have read posts about the protection rule and since reflection was only implemented to help the weaker player, then it is my oppinion that the protection rule be expanded to everyone. This would force everyone to only be able to attack someone within their own point range. It would slow down the stronger players, provide more protection to the weaker players (not just the ones under 10,000 points), and it would reduce the "feeding pool" making everyone use more strategy in their attacks.

Reflection=fail. It makes no sense and just destroys the smaller players. I can afford to lose a couple ships here and there, I've had to do it countless times before. But when a new player loses their brand new, shiny RIP to a LS Dome, it just destroys them economically.

As for the cap, I think 100k is a bit extreme, seeing as that is about half the players. 10k isn't enough, though. I barely learned ANYTHING in the first 10k points and I took my sweet time. You just aren't exposed to enough play-time to really get used to it. I think a 50-75k would be a nice change, though. It allows for experimentation for new players without risking everything they have. Its hard to change strategies once you're a target, because you can't afford to make a mistake. 50k allows for you to try the different strategies (Turtle, Raider, etc) without risking everything you have.
