Bombers are fine for busting local turtles (with rapid fire of course). Otherwise, they're hanger queens and do nothing but suck tons of deut every time you fleet save. A large contingent of bombers will break most players in the long run.

Bombers cheap to build/good bang for the buck, very expensive to maintain with the same deut consumption as the Destroyers. Throw in that they use the Impulse engine, eventually making them slower than the Destroyers with a decent Hyperspace Drive tech. Not a ship I will ever have in my fleet.
