Phase 1 happens..the combat phase ...that will generate any Df from the battle
Phase 2 RiPs then attempt to destroy your planet...a 100% failure rate and 100% complete destruction of the RiPs that are not lost thru combat Phase...
NOW The heading to this topic is correct Welcome to a New World...

#22Holy ball-sacks. No md's now
Death begins with life's first breath, and life begins at the touch of death.
Re: Welcome to a New World...
#23doesn't stop them..the person has to be online of course...
But now you know why a thousand light years ago when everyone was *****'n about the rip counts and wanted to change how moon destroy missions worked i was against it.And now you know why i have even now very few MD's under my belt..just wasn't sure how many people out there was smarter than me tactic wise..wasn't about to see 4000 RIps get chunked into no DF just to uncover a fleet i would eventually find with some patience

Re: Welcome to a New World...
#24And to think my next idea was to just destroy the planet and see what happens lol. This ought to either be very good for the game, or just as likely very bad. Now moon pops are riskier ofc... this does explain though why last summer when I was expecting your md's and they never came...
Other than that I am at a loss of words.

Re: Welcome to a New World...
#25Honestly seems like a flaw in the game and wasn't meant to happen that way, but that is quite the nifty trick there. guess small moons can now serve purpose, easy way to get rid of a few pesky RIPs. I do think this trick should be fixed tho.

Re: Welcome to a New World...
#26i have been reading to understand the trick better. cant help but think it sounds very similar to the scenario of attack fleet.
i have not disband any moon that was about to get Destroyed, but i did it on an in coming attack mission. as it was described in many cases that if u disband ur moon it leaves a residue of body and the attack fleet impacts it. you even get a cr for it.
what u described i found the trick back in last january when i first build my RIP and was going through all references about RIP tactics here and even in the restricted ( ? ) sections.
even with this wake of moon after disband there is ways for what u described to try. as cuddles said small moons can be handy.

Re: Welcome to a New World...
#27I always thought when you destroy your own moon or planet before an attack arrives it automatically just returns.
I never actually tried it before because I never wanted to take the risk.

Re: Welcome to a New World...
#28DT was on track for this technique almost a year ago. Only thing he did not know what would happen but was trying to get the RIPs diverted to a planets defence. Nobody answered him at the time though! But of course this way is better.
Knock out enemy RIPs in exchange for a moon!!

Re: Welcome to a New World...
#29The only problem is that way you're guaranteed to lose the moon. But hey, moons are cheap, RIPs aren't.

Agreed with this and previous 'flaw' statement ..-Administration Baiting warning-
If it has been corrected on ''destroy'' missions it was purely by accident..but when fleets are sent to a destination they are suppose to go to that target..whether you disband it or rips destroy it..how many times has someone sent out those 5 waves of 1 rip in past and forgot to recall after the moon was destroyed and those rips crashed into the planet..not residue from moon
