I simply was trying to state that the reason you grew so much within the first one to two weeks was because of the money you spent on rubies. Personally, I have never bought rubies. I do not have the money as I am in college to do so. However, I raid 2 billion a week and I make the extra effort to make sure that my fleet, and planets stay safe.

in x there is so much res laying around anyone can hit 200k in 2 weeks 3 max. even then you can not learn enough even atfer a month to be safe from 1000000 lunars and 50000 rips.

and btw sorry if i get defensive about rubies but even today i logged in game to 3 messages from someone ive never attacked never bothered someone i dont even know, calling me a fool noob stupied etc just for buying rubies. thats it. just cause his allaince told him im built from rubies. ive never even attacked him or anything. so it kinda pisses me off. as was once told it does not take much skill to use rubies to build but no matter how u build ur fleet it takes skills to keep it, and i have not lost any yet after 5 months so i feel safe at my skill level that i am at least able to play. yes i do have 12 ruby moons all with ruby made jgs and they help lol so what i still have to make sure i time my stuff right know where to go know when my targets is on or offline. etc and even now i still make mistakes, i have mis timed my fs before and had it sitting for a hr when i thought it was up no one came to get it thankfully but i was still learning, and still am. im just saying i think people need more then a few weeks or even months really to get a good grasp on the ins and outs of the game. and raising the protection will give that

o no i see super noobs but wait i cant kill them, lets not fight the other top players but cry cause we cant kill the super noobs....you guys make super noobs. its a player with 50000 rips and you really think its fair to someone at 100k to face that, gtfoh. at 100k you can have lvl 25 metal mine 25 crystal 20 deut mine lvl 20 shipyard nanite 5 and some reasearch.....no fleet included, it doesnt take much to be at 100k points.

id be happy if zorg raised the protection to 1 mil like in standerd ..x needs it.

I play standard and left my crew to start an alliance for the newcomers. Here's what I learned from that and what I can say.

I have no problem being unable to hit the so called super noob. In fact I left my friends to make sure the new players would learn and become good players. I also explained them that the alliance was in good terms with a few others, but had no affiliations and they were free to join any other group. In a way, you might say that I was training my enemies. Not a problem, the more, the merrier.

In standard the top player is in an alliance with almost no other active members. I'm in a crew with one other big player and we are at war with a big alliance made of very old and powerful Zorg players. I guess you can say we do fight each other pretty often.

So, if you are following my process here, you are probably smiling about your next yes. But you are not getting it from me. It looks like a good thing at first, but you don't know how things will be after a few weeks.

Without the big hunters, new players grow fast and worry little or not at all about simple things. Most won't fleetsave, they have no idea of the importance of moons and won't help each other to get them. There are exceptions, always. But they are exceptions no matter what is the protection system you are using.

Some even leave because they thought this was a war game and they don't see any action.

My conclusion is: you take the small fleet a newb made in the first week and he'll either leave or rebuild. You raise protection to one million points and they tend to leave after the first hit. That's because they never cared for the safety of their ships before and now it looks like a lot more to learn. Also, what is lost is a lot more, and they don't have a production big enough to easily rebuild.

The ones who like games like Zorg will rebuild their one week fleet. They get used to the rebuilding. They learn to take a little damage to deal a big one. But a one or two months fleet is a loss too big to be your first one.

I like the idea of having a big newb protection, but they need to fight each other. If they don't, you are extending the time they are newbs, but not player retention.

SO, I'll agree with the improved protection when I see someone offering a solution to the lack of activity among the small players. Stop worrying with the big guy with a gun. The problem is the new player insertion in our old well known world. The player base defined how the server works, you must be a player (fully, not out of reach) to understand it. For now, my vote is no.

I can understand with what you are saying with regards to raising new player score protection. Personally, I would agree with you.

Don't think though that because some of us have more points than a lot of other players that we are only interested in protecting our own vested interests. New player protection is great. Some would argue that I am only interested in fattening up those sacred cows for the slaughter.

More players staying in the game is the point we should all be aiming for. With regards to my last point though, players reaching those scores would become more hunted than otherwise. As well as having this new protection they would also need to LEARN. Unfortunately, there are some that don't or won't. One in particular I have tried to help, I will not mention his name. He flatly refuses. Gets to within a few points of 1 million points and then he's set back several hundred thousand points, yet again. Is there a way that these players can learn before this proposed heightened protection expires?
yes some would not learn but some wold, you cant penalize the ones that it would help because some would not learn.

Well at first I was against raising protection. There have been some good arguments for raising it. I'd be okay with rising it, within reason.

I don't think I support this 5 x suggestion. You would be really limiting the people that others could attack, mostly larger players but also some small and medium ones. For example, should a 500k player be able to attack a 100k? What about five million to a million.

I'm not penalising the ones who would learn. When I started there was a player with 40 mil fleet points. Another one close to 38 mil. Still, I have learned and stay active as others that came after that.
Player retention does not depend on how easy a game is. There are many factors that affect it and you are quickly dismissing them in a search for an easy solution.
Player retention, the past few years have shown me, tends to be bigger in alliances that accept newbs and teach them. It also improves when there is activity on the overview chat, about the game and other things as well.
The game is not unfair, it is only demanding. And not everyone can play several hours / day.
Let's face it. I love zorg, but it is not for everyone. Our servers evolved to be way too hardcore for the average person. We would benefit more from a way to improve ruby buying than from new players joining.
