Ok, so I know how to deploy ships and all that, but what happens if I send a ship to a planet that can't build the ship.

Example: If I have a Destroyer on Planet A and want to send it to planet B but Planet B only has a Ship Yard of Level 2. Can I still deploy the Destroyer to Planet B and use it as normal, or will I have to construct the required level of Ship Yard?

You can deploy it and use it just fine, you just can't build any Destroyers on that planet.

Correct, you can deploy anything anywhere regardless of shipyard level. You could put your whole fleet on a moon even if it doesen't have a shipyard and base operation from there.
