Raids

How do you do a raid? What is to be gained from them? What must you have to succeed in a raid?
1.you hit galaxy,hover your cursor over a planet and hit attack,then go through what comes up
2.metal,crystals, and deuterium
3.ships, light fighter small cargo large cargos, hevay fighters,etc....
