After you are done with the How to start guide The main priority is your Resources your main resource is metal and it is abound so after you are done make metal level 12 so it produces over 1000. and the Cristal mine is the next priority make it level 14 while you are doing this maintain your soler levels. The 3 resource is Deuterium needs to get up to 1000 too so level that up. and once you have that work on your less necessary buildings like ship yards you want that level 4 then work on your Research lab you want that level 4 now research the impulse engine and armor till you get the Heavy fighter. There that should help you out some more.

I usually try to get a level 30 metal mine, level 28 crystal mine, and a level 26 deuterium mine every planet. but over all it is your preference.
