Check the Trade forum and check the trade rates for current exchange ratios.

I believe he means is there an in-game way to trade, or is it basically the trust system (as in trusting the other guy to hold up his end of the bargain.

Yes, it's all about trust.
But, if someone were to stiff a trade, they'd be hunted like a dog and never be traded with again.

If someone doesn't live up to their end of a trade, I think they also get banned under the milking rules.
