About Spy Reports

Kind of a simple question, but how exactly do the spying reports (for defenders) work? if I get them, does that mean my satelites and ships noticed and destroyed the probes and the spying was unsuccessful? or I get a report either it failed or didn't? I need to know because I've been getting a lot of them for quite a while, and I surely would like to know how to get rid of those spy ships before they can report.

The messages I'm talking about are even spying reports or just mean a fleet was passing by, or something?xD They look like this:

Code: Select all

An enemy fleet at the planet xxxxxx [0:000:0] was sighted near your planet yyyyyy [0:000:0].

The only way to know that you destroyed the probes will be if you have crystal DF at the planet. Espionage reports always come back to the sender, it is only a question of whether or not the probes will be destroyed. It is impossible to prevent yourself from being spied on. Every time you receive a message like the one you describe, you have been probed from the coords listed in the report. Whether or not the person who sent the probes got any useful information depends upon the relative difference between your espionage tech levels and the number of probes sent. There is no way for the person being probed to know how much information the sender received, unless you deduce the number of probes sent from the DF size created, and this isn't really important.

Bottom line- expect to be probed, it happens to everyone. If you are playing the game correctly, then there's nothing to worry about.

Oh, thanks. I reckon I have a decent fleet for my size, or so I think, so I'm not worried, but that's certainly good to know. cheers
