Is there any way to survey a planet for conlonization so that i dont waste my Colony ship on a planet that i might not like after i land?

No. Field sizes are randomly generated based on the slot location within the system. It would be a major challenge to revise the database to allow such a feature.

If you do not like the planets size, you can always abandon it and try again. ;)

If you are just starting out you shouldnt worry too much about your planets size. Just farm resources for a while from your other planets and when you think you need to move on, thats when you think about planets size. :)

I dont know whats so funny.....a strategy game's most distinctive charcteristic is knowing all and using it in a strtegic play&moves.
this game makes you gamble and all players have diffrent assets thus some have natural disadvantages while others have it the other way around.

i dont wanna gamble...i want to play a strategy game.

:D I dunno.
Expeditions are risky (including colonizing), you don't know what you can get or loose. That's part of the game. I think that's one of the things you should keep in mind when laying out your strategies.
You can't stop Lady Luck from doing her tricks. :D
