How long does debris stick around?
#1Just that... how long does debris stick around? Indefinitely or does it "decay" if you don't recycle it?

#2It stays there until it is harvested, it will not dissapear, except on rare occasions when the server goes down. This has happened a few times and the debris has dissapeared, annoying the people who were going to get it.

#3There seems to be a time limit if the debris field is large enough that there's a chance it will create a moon.
I don't know what exactly it is, but it seems to be somewhere between 10 and 30 minutes. I've had a couple of attacks on my colonies lately, some with debris fields large enough to reach the 20% mark. But I've not been able to recycle all of the debris - just not enough Recyclers to shuttle back and forth.

#4Whoever attacked you may have sent recs to pick up the debris field. Not all of the attackers time it right... Or someone else may have seen the debris field and sent recs to pick it up. It took me over an hour to pick up the debris left by someone at my planet... Once again... debris fields do not just disappear except for the rare occassion that the server goes down. Your disappearing debris field is because someone was picking it up.
