Okay but now how would bombers destroy ground defense's ? So if i damage the shields would those bombs go through or wat cuz my friend used 3 bombers and nothing happened to ground defense with a full force but that he only had a few cruisers could that be the problem ?

Hi Mr. Roofie,

First off, please try to avoid posting multiple times one after another. It really clutters the thread. If you have something else to add to your post, edit it and add your extended thoughts.

Like Sevatrix said, you don't need to destroy the shield domes forever to get resources. You just need to fight through them during battle!

Like all defences, Shield Domes have a 70% chance of surviving after each battle. The only way to make sure that they for sure get destroyed is to send the appropriate amount of interplanetary missiles at them. Remember to take your Weapon, Shield, and Armor techs as well as your opponent's into consideration before each battle.

Hope this helps

Can bombers get through and destroy ground defense's. ??

if you want to know whether bombers, or virtually any other ship for that matter [anything but probes], can break through defense, you need 1 thing. numbers. even cargo ships in sufficient quantities can destroy defenses, though this may take more ships [and resulting losses] than you may like. to entirely permanently destroy shields you need the nukes [and a helpfully situated planet in the relevant galaxy, cause nukes travel only within the galaxy, to nuke anywhere with high enough impulse tech you need a planet in EACH galaxy]. the important thing is that with enough ships you can break any defense.

so: everything in a combat has a certain amount of health/durability/constitution/whatever. so, if you have the following scenario:

3 bombers v.s. large shield dome

what happens? [you can test this with the simulator btw]

well, combat lasts 6 turns. in each turn, the bombers each shoot, dealing X damage. the shield dome also shoots but has no attack points so it doesn't do anything. now, the bombers and the shield dome each have health, but since the shield dome cannot deal damage you only need to know the shield dome's health, which we will call Y.

so, each turn, the bombers each do X damage, reducing Y, the shield dome's health. because there are 3 bombers, each turn they collectively damage equal to 3X. there are potentially up to 6 turns, so [6 turns TIMES 3X] equals 18X, or 18 times the damage a single bomber would do, to the shield dome.

the result? well, if the resulting damage is higher than the shield dome's health, during one of the turns the shield dome will be destroyed [in battle, not necessarilly permanently]. if not, the battle ends in a tie, because you didn't destroy the defenses but didn't lose all your ships, either [or anything, really].

the scenario i put is the simplified one. others have mentioned the weapons, armour, and shield techs [also known as w/s/a], which affect how much damage each combatant ship/defense dishes out or can take. there is also the ''simple'' matter of rapidfire but this generally must be simulated to account for properly.

if your w/s/a are high enough 3 bombers will work but usually 7 or so are necessary, if you get a tie, make more and attack, you can figure out the exact number with the simulator, though if rapidfire can occur, sim multiple times.

Everything well said by many, I will just focus with different wording:

-Destroyed defences are regenerated.
-The regeneration rate is random but always within the boundaries of 60% to 70%.
-Regeneration results are rounded upwards.

Which means that:
-Any defence which is a single structure will always regenerate as:

1 shield dome * 60% lowest regenation rate = 0.6 => which rounded becomes 1 => Shield is regenerated always.

As rest said:
-Destruction is one thing, regeneration is another.
-Missiles can completely destruct domes as defence does not regenerate on missile attacks.
