Battles

#1
May I know how many times each ship fires in every turn of battle? (Not talking about rapid fire) :)

It fires once. On the next round, the damage is reduced by 25 %.
But I'm not yet sure about it.

EDIT: Every ship fires once on the first round. I still don't get how the next rounds are calculated.

If that is the case how can 180 destroyers and 92 Battle Ships Defeat 135 Battlecruisers, 22 Destroyers, 10 Recyclers, 19 large Cargos and 100 Solar Satellites in 3 rounds of battle? Considering the fact that Rapid fire hasn't been implemented yet and his upgrades are almost similar to mine, the combined attacks of my ships should only be able to destroy around 6 Battlecruisers per turn. :?

You mean 180 D + 92 BS destroyed 22 D + 135 BC + 10 R + 19 LC + 100 SS in 3 rounds?
Seems alright to me.

1 Destroyer is almost equal to 2 battleships. 1 Battleship is almost equal to 1 Battlecrusier.

Re: Battles

How is that the case? Each attack that a Destroyer makes only has 2000 Base attack power right? A Battlecruiser has 70 000 Hit points. I know Destroyers are stronger than Battlecrusiers, my question is, if each ship only fires once per battle turn, a Destroyer in 6 turns can only deal base 2000 x 6 Damage to another ship's Hit Points right? Unless the attack power of ships has a different meaning.

Thus my 2nd question, does the attack power refer to how much damage a Ship can do to another ship's structure points per attack turn? If not, how is damage calculated then?

Re: Battles

I think 1 structure point does not take 1 point damage.
If that is the case then there should be a very large gap between the attacker and defender to have a win.
Ex. 60 BS is required to destroy 1 BS.

Re: Battles

Then how much damage does each attack point do to structure points then? :?

That is really hard to estimate. (I don't even want to try. :D )
There are so many things to factor in. Shields, armor, structure, ship type etc... There is also a randomizer I think.
You will need experience and a lot of CR to properly estimate the combat outcome. Still... even the top players are surprised when they see their losses.
A slight overkill is a better option for now.

Maybe if someone can enlighten us.... :D

I'm not sure but i think the damage calculated by the ships armour value. If you notice in CR's it has a list of the weapon damage, shield strength and armour value of each ship/defence. The structure points have nothing to do with the actual damage calculation, they are simply the total Metal + Crystal it cost to construct the ship and represent what will be added to the combats TD for each destroyed unit.

At armour tech 10 a Battlecruiser has 10000 armour value. (may be wrong but what the hell).

At weapon tech 10 a Destroyer has 4000 weapon damage.

I beleive i read somewhere that each shot gives a percentage chance, depending on the remaining armour value of a ship after the shot, to explode, thus destroying it. Here is my example:

A Destroyer fires upon a Battlecruiser for 4000 damage, 4000 is 40% of 10000. This means that from a single shot by a Destroyer there is a 40% chance that the Battlecruiser will be destroyed and a 60% chance it will survive. I beleive the armour value stays at the reduced value for the remainder of the round then resets to 100% at the end of the round.

This means if the Battlecruiser survives the shot from the Destroyer it is left with 6000 armour value, if it takes another shot from another Destroyer it's armour value is reduced to 2000, giving it an 80% chance to be destroyed and a 20% chance to survive. This would continue until there is a 100% chance to be destroyed.

This damage and armour value is an example and is obviously affected by the WSA levels, also it doesen't take into account the shield buffer. I must remind you that this isn't an official statement, i read it somewhere for a similar game and am not sure it applies in ZE. It does however, make quite a lot of sense.

I hope my explanation helped. :)

Oh....so that's what the Armour Value in CRs mean. Is there a formula for calculating Armour Values? :?
