chuck norris jokes are awsome sorry but my friends are always telling them so i remember a few of them although im fighting a black belt with mmy newly acuired red belt(judo) as a 9th dan i think gale knows what a 9th dan is and how rare being designated as a 9th dan is am i correct gale?im not getting my hopes up on being a 10th dan anytime soon.

Achieving a the 9th Dan is certainly something to be proud of - but so is being nationally ranked and being a 2-year running champion for 3 styles 4 states wide :D. Why not go for 10th Dan? Never know unless you try.

The most common ranking systems are the Japanese and the Korean systems.

The Japanese systems start with sub-"Black Belt" or Kyu ranks and work from
highest to lowest as skill increases, typically from 10th Kyu up to 1st Kyu
and then "Black Belt" or Dan rankings, from 1st Dan and going up to 9th
Dan. 9th Dan is typically reserved for the (one) highest ranking
instructor of the art, usually in Japan.
